The theme at Creative Tuesdays this week is gift.
This little Barn Swallow is helping with all the little details to make this gift
look extra special! Every once in a while, I really like how my drawing
turns out and this is one of those times. Last week? Not so much!
I think it's the color this time around!
I think it's the color this time around!
I have no idea how someone with a sunny disposition can love
grey so much, but I do. I paint it on my walls, I color with it,
I wear grey eye shadow, even half of my clothes are grey! lol.
I might just have to frame this one and put it in my grey and white kitchen. ha.
We're celebrating 'gift' all day on Tuesday, the 19th.

Better yet, why don't you join in the fun?
No talent required...you can doodle, paint or create.

Oh I like this one too! The yellow ribbon and the cheery daisies are testimonies to the sunny disposition :) Love the details on this one! Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The grey is soothing (maybe that's why I love it? ha.) and the yellow is cheery! :) haha. Hope your Tuesday is wonderful. Hey...I've had your pork tenderloin marinading since yesterday and it's going on the grill tonight! Yum. :)
DeleteOh yay! and Yum!! Hope it turns out well and you guys like it :)
DeleteOh, we will...this will be our second time for it! Yummy!
Deleteshowed the drawing to Serena and she gave an appreciative whistle and asked "Did Betsy DRAW that?! Wow! :) she was impressed!
Deleteaw, that's cute. :)
DeleteCute drawing, Betsy...another one of your many talents...
ReplyDeleteyes, the daisies and the ribbon are what makes this one so fetching...

Thanks, Linda! Spencer got in the pool yesterday, so I'm sure the others will follow today. Yes, it's hot...perfect for warming up the water! Have a lovely day....I'm off to the treadmill while you get to fitness class! :)

DeleteI love this Betsy are so cute; I love grey too after blue buy I m searching a grey sweater but still I dont find that I would like:)
ReplyDeleteLove thr bird of course lol
thanks, gloria. I have a grey sweater that I wear all the time in the fall and winter! When it falls apart, I'm going to have to find another one just like it! haha.
DeleteThat is I want times ago I had onr that I bought in a recycle store (lol) but finally wad terrible so I need other because I love grey with jeans or. Denim blouses:)
DeleteI love to shop the thrift stores! Have you looked online? I have an Eddie Bauer cardigan that has lasted for years.
DeleteI will see betsy really never buy at online only issues subcriptions!
DeleteI sawe the sites are beautiuful but I find only for the spring summer season anyway I will see:)
DeleteOh, that is true...wrong season for you! In July I'm sure the fall collections will come out.
DeleteYou made me want to go to the thrift store, though! So much fun!
I missed pedicure day AGAIN! I love gray too Betsy...love to WEAR it! It is not a downer because it goes with EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeleteThat drawing would be perfect in your kitchen!!!! It is wonderful! We have oodles of barn swallows here at The Glen...I LOVE watching them glide and swoop!
I need to find a little vintage frame for it!
DeleteI love swallows...not many in our neighborhood, though!
Betsy this is so sweet and adorable, aww! I was also thinking of doing a present.
ReplyDeletethanks, christine....it's the first thing that came to mind, so I just went with it. :)
DeleteAwwww love the curly ribbons and sweet bird!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
aw, thanks, kitty...you are always so sweet!
DeleteYour artwork always amazes me, Betsy! I love grey too, because it goes with my second favorite color - black.
ReplyDeletehaha...oh, I love black, too! the other half of my wardrobe that isn't grey is black! haha....well, there are some blue things, I guess. :)
DeleteThe color gray goes with every color!
ReplyDeleteThat's why you like it so much. It's kinda like you!
Header: nice! What I like about it is that the truck and trailer aren't perfect.
Maybe that is why I like it. It also looks good on me. Dress me in yellow and I look like I have the flu. lol.
DeleteThe header...yep...kinda shabby but in a good kind of way. :)
I never thought much about grey, until I met you, Betsy...but seeing all the lovely ways you use it, I've started loving it too. In fact yesterday, the outfit I wore to Jon graduation...was grey....
ReplyDeleteNow the drawing is simply the best ever...I know I say that every time, but this one really did come together with perfection!....Wow, color me grey...color you fantastic. xoxoxox
I'm sure you looked lovely in your grey!
DeleteThanks, Wanda. Still wish I could have some water color lessons fro you! I'm presently rummaging through my work room for an old frame that fits this one! lol.
Yes, a frame..and wouln't it be a nice one for a note card, or post card. I've been remiss in my watercolor lately...need a kick in the pants to get me motivated again.
Deletenice...i like...enough to keep the eye busy...cute bird and i like him helping...the little wildflowers too are a nice touch...
ReplyDeletethanks, Bri...I'm glad you approve. :)
DeleteI like how the yellow stands out against the grey. Grey is a very versatile color isn't it?
Deleteyes, very...and it's calm and lovely. :) Hope you're having a calm and lovely day, btw. lol. :)
DeleteWell, it was lovely--not too sure about the calm part. :) Hope your day was good too!
DeleteI took Spencer with me to Sams Club tonight. I would NOT call that calm or lovely. lol. Whew!
DeleteYou are so talented and this would be a favorite of mine also. I think it does deserve a frame and a place of honor in your grey and white kitchen. :) The pops of yellow and of course, flowers...perfect.
ReplyDeletethanks, magpie. :) You know, my bedroom is grey with bits of gold!
Deletei love it!
ReplyDeleteand i am with you - i LOVE gray. have it on my walls ALL over the house, too!
great minds....
but, back to the drawing, I love it - with the ribbon and bird, too!
oh yes, great minds. lol. Thanks, Heather!
DeleteI love everything about it...the bird, the hearts and daisies. I agree with the others, that the yellow and green splashes add so much. The first thing I thought when I saw this, was that it would make a great gift tag for one of your baskets. Do you make your own tags for them?
ReplyDeleteOh, that's an idea! You know, I'm down to the last of my business cards. Something along this line would be cute...maybe I could design them myself? I'll have to think on that. Maybe replace the present with a basket of goodies.
Deletesuch a beautiful piece! Love the idea of the bird decorating the box, it has such motion and heart! Re Liszt - good on you to get that far LOL Rachmaninof was the hardest I got to! So cool that you studied that peice!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alicia. Haven't played in years..that seems like a lifetime ago! Still, loved your art work...and coupled with that cute story of it's evolution was so much fun!
DeleteHelping out at your hall
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice swallow I hope he doesn't get a cat call
And left as a present himself
On the floor of your shelf
That would be ironic I suppose
And cause ocd woes
But that is the way life goes
And grey doesn't have to brings lows
As there is something to be said for grey
In there you can poke around and have fun all day
So grey can work
And be a perk
Oh those cats do bring the gifts
ReplyDeleteand think they're really hip.
Only robins so far
and no swallows to give me a jar.
That would be just eew
but that you already knew!
Still the squirrel was the worst varmint
laying there on the carpet.
Made me let out a little squeal.
I'm sure I sounded like a seal.
hahahaha
You slept in late
must mean you and flappy have a date!
LMAO sounded like a sea
DeleteOh that is just unreal
Would have laughed quite a bit at that
Glad mine are an indoor cat
So no presents come due
And yep once more Flappy on cue
Here at stinkin work
As I sit and lurk
But the last date she has booked here
So hopefully I will no longer have to hear her flapping in my ear
At least until fall
Here at my work hall
You would let out a squeal
Deleteif a dead, wet, baby squirrel was on your carpet for real.
Don't tell me that you wouldn't
even though as a guy you shouldn't
because it would just slip out
and then you could go and pout.
After you disposed of the thing, of course.
It's better than screaming until you are hoarse!
Bah i wouldnt do that
DeleteBe a blah or a wtf from Pat
Maybe an ewww
Not as bad as Ernest used to do
But still pretty bad
Again indoors makes me glad
yes, there are advantages to the indoors
Deleteonly the occasional fly that soars.
hahaha.
Have a post ready to go soon
that is the saga of the june bug.
It's an indoor affair
and many cats stop to watch at my lair.
hahaha
I love grey too! It's one of my favorite colors to wear. It's not to harsh as black or white, but it's neutral enough to go with almost anything :) Love the picture as well!
ReplyDeletegreat minds, jax! ♥
DeleteAnd where are these minds?
DeleteDo tell our rhyming behinds
They are in our pretty little heads.
DeleteOh that must fill you with dread.
lol.
LOL Oh, Pat, stop being a jelly belly of our great minds!!
DeleteHow did you make a heart?
to make a heart, hold down the alt key while you click on the 3 in the number pad. :) ♥
Deletesmart brains in pretty heads
must just tear him to shreds.
lol.
Adorable! You are able to come up with an amazing piece of work for every CT theme. And I love your new header...very nice.
ReplyDeleteaw, thanks janice! and congratulations to you for winning the little prize over at CT!
DeleteI have quite a few of items of clothing in grey. It is actually a neutral and easy colour to wear. Love your work. You are so creative.
ReplyDeleteyay for grey! haha..
Deletetotally agree with Janice above. you really do and this is no exception. LOL, funny you like this one better than last week whereas for me it was the other way around on my own stuff. As it is, Betsy, this is so charming. Love the story behind it. I think it is one of your best not just from colour but the composition/layout of the individual elements breaking up the white space so well. Dainty too. LOVE IT!! TY!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mmm. Yes, I liked the way it looked as a whole, too...it fell together nicely with dimension and proportion. Sometimes I have trouble with that. :) And then the grey was icing on the cake, so to speak!
DeleteI always like your Creative Tuesday drawings. Each one shows your rich imagination and artistic talent at work.
ReplyDeletethanks, stevie! You know, I think you should join in! You would be great and add so much to our little group!
DeleteA very pretty drawing, Betsy! Grey is a blend of many colors so it holds a lot of mystery and joy within it.
ReplyDeleteI love that description of grey! :)
DeleteNo blog today???? :o(
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
ps....just had a swim...glorious!! did you get in yours today??
This post is new today...went up this morning. :)
DeleteI got off my evening schedule with the pedi party! I'll post the giveaway winner in the morning and then get on my evening schedule tomorrow night. :)
I didn't swim, but spencer and taylor did! Hot today!
Betsy, I love this piece. The scene itself reminds me of the early scene in snow white, the cartoon of course. I love the details, and the wonderful whitespace, as it has such an opening effect yet still draws the focus to the action itself. Awesome piece. thanks
ReplyDeletethanks so much Fred! When the 'real' artists like yourself compliment my drawings, that really makes me feel good. :)
DeleteWow, very pretty. The dominant grey gives it a very nice look!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I love your greys, they are so calming. Beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteIf you know anything about me yet, it's that I love birds. So this ONE is not only a winner but a keeper. I wonder if your frame will be silver? Please post a pic when you hang it in your kitchen.
