Memorial Day Pies

I spent Sunday afternoon baking pies for Memorial Day.
We're getting together with some of The Mister's extended family.
Apple, Pecan and Blueberry.
The house smelled wonderful.

The prep work, and waiting to be baked.

Cooling, posing for photographs, and waiting for a scoop of ice cream!

Happy Memorial Day!
Thank you, countless patriots, who gave their lives for our freedom!
God Bless America, My Home Sweet Home.

    1. Thanks, Pat! I saw a very similar pie on a magazine cover years ago and loved it so much, I sketched a template on paper that I trace around with a knife. I'll continue to keep the template until I find a cookie cutter like it! ha.

      Happy memorial day to you!

  8. Hi Betsy .. they look wonderful and just right for the family - healthy eaters I guess!!

Pies always go down well, with ice-cream, cream or custard - depending on the time of year usually .. I'm quite partial to custard occasionally ...

Have a lovely week - cheers Hilary

  9. Looks delicious. No pies on our docket this holiday. Ambrosia, Fruit Salad, And homemade Cookies and Muffins, doing a brunch thing, but alas, I'm on a hardcore diet, which is what I'm guessing the reason for the fruit salad is for, as it's not the norm. Have a happy memorial day Betsy. Thanks.

  27. OMGosh, the star and eagle pie look epic. I echo you...God bless America.

Memorial Day was very relaxing. The hubby and I had three mornings in a row of sitting on the deck enjoy coffee and all the birds that come to visit the garden and feeders. I would stay all day if the heat didn't chase indoors.

btw, we're a retired Navy family, my hubby being a Navy Chief, having served over 20+ years. I also did a 4 year tour in the Air Force before we married.
