M is for Mushroom

This three day growth of an Amanita Muscaria is time-lapsed to only 1 minute long and
worth every second!  Very, very cool!  You know, there was a time when I thought
these red mushrooms with white polka dots were make-believe and
only found in children's storybooks!  When I came across this video a year
or so ago, I couldn't believe they were real!  They still have that make-believe quality about them, which is just accentuated by the time lapse!  And it all goes to show you,
as I always say, that real life really is better than fiction!

Although it's technically a fungus, I call them mushrooms and so it will be
my entry for the letter M.

I've joined the A to Z Challenge for the month of April!
We're celebrating the letter M all day Saturday the 14th!

    3. I need a little pin to give your head a prick
and let a little air out so it doesn't get so big!
You'll thank me, yes, it's true
when your head can fit through the doors and in your car, too!
Have you had to drive with it hanging out the window
cuz it's too big and hits the rear view mirror?
      lol...

    4. LOL I already have a whole post done
On how it needs to be popped under my sun
But sadly not much seemed to work
And of course that made me smirk..haha

    5. haha...see...another tour I did take
for me to predict that pin prick escapade
      will be fun to read
what actually works to do that deed.

  2. Wow that is one big mushroom
Or fungus that might bring doom
It does look like something right out of the smurfs or something like that
As many a cartoon has been seen with them in it by the cat
Didn't think they were that real either at my sea
I guess now I know differently
And reality better than fiction you say
Hmmmmm I don't know with my mind I can think up quite the fiction my way..haha

    1. It just looks like a troll should live under it!
We don't have them here where I live.
They must be over in Europe land
where red mushrooms look so grand!

      your mind is the exception
      but I'm sure that isn't a revelation.
      lol.

    2. Yeah never seen there here at my sea
So that have to be at some foriegn place causing glee
      Or maybe not
As when eaten I don't think they make on feel so hot
      The exception is my mind
Oh that is nice to hear from my little rhyming behind..haha

    3. They couldn't have them in Nova Scotia
'cause the moose would tromple them
      Maybe they are in Ireland
where the leprechauns can dance under them!

      Delete
    4. But can't they fit that pot of gold under there
I think it is more of a troll or smurf affair
      Those moose trample all
And give off quite the noisey call

      Delete
    5. well those are some good points
I hope the gold pot is too big for that joint.

hey, I'm working on Grutty tonight
those gawkers are looking out of sight!

    6. Sounds great
      Sure your twin will relate..haha
Glad you caught all the kitties too
      At your zoo

  3. A big shroom indeed, wonder if this one would be good to eat, has me thinking of a portobello mushroom sandwich with sweet balsamic dressing and caramelized onions-yumm Actually, the size of this mushroom, also reminds me of the smurfs and would probably make them quite the house. Finally, I'd like to say, I find it interesting how that squirrel appears in the frozen pic before one hits play, but perhaps it's my eyes, but I didn't see that squirrel during those three quick days, I wonder what else the editing snipped out, not those bugs that swarmed about or the quick flash of a cat or dog--very interesting indeed. Nice post. Thanks

  13. Amanitas are some of my favorite mushrooms! They are the classic cartoon-ish style.

You -can- eat them, but they will make you feel drunk and a little bit sick.
