L is for Love Story

Mister Cardinal lived in my tree.
All winter long he winked at me,
Thankful for the seed I gave,
Although flirty, he did behave.

Then a pretty girl came to lurk.
Seeing his mask and red cape, her interest did perk!

But she played hard to get,
Acting aloof and not interested.

He couldn't resist her dark sparkly eyes
Or the way her petticoats did fly.

As she watched, he pulled out all alarms
and in weeks she couldn't resist his charms.

Soon they were inseparable
and their love incomparable!

He talks to her to day and night
And it's my restaurant where they take flight.
A romantic dinner as the moon is seen,
he feeds her there and to her he sings.

In a flowering tree they are building a nest.
They agree that living at Betsy's is the very best!

Sorry, I'm starting to sound like Pooh. :)

    4. Now you're starting. ha All I can think of now is that quavery oooohhhhh that Piglet does when he is nervous about something. :)

  2. I love how you connect with nature so well! I would never have thought of making bird love stories or even snapping a picture of them. They are very pretty birds though...to view on the computer. lol Lovely story!!!

    4. why she think birds want to eat her eyes
      I have no idea. I can't surmise.
They be more likely to poop in her hair
than to pick at her eyes here and there!

    5. Issues?? Hmph...

      No one saw The Birds?

    6. haha...I thought it might have something to do with that movie.
But these are cardinals...sweet as can be.
Not some cloud of crazed crows from Hitchock's brain
and they won't swarm down upon you like rain!
      lol.
darn...I'm rhyming again when I don't have to
      strat, Pat...I blame you!

      Delete
    7. LOL Pat wil take such blame
It just adds to his fame
Well if you go by movies any animal can attack
There is Kujo, Old Yeller, Ben, The Birds, Lake Placid, Jaws, Anaconda and many more at the movie shack
      Birds will never swarm
That is just not the norm
      Some are crazy though
      Seen them at my show

  7. I also have a pair of Cardinals...did you know that they are one of the few birds that actually mate for LIFE?!
we throw out peanuts for them, around dinner time...they like to come right before dark...they are definitely one of my favorite birds...

Your pictures and your limerick are AWESOME....great job on the alphabet thingy...

    And not at your sea..haha

Awww getting all lovey dovey in rhyme
You know the cat likes such a chime
Even though he would prob eat the birds
    He still like your words
And hopes their lovey doveyness grows
And no long hunting whiskers shows
From all the kitties at your shore
    That go out to explore

    1. He has better manners with me
guess cuz I'm a lady. lol.

I knew you'd like the poetry in rhyme
as about their love I did chime.
So far they have avoided the cats
maybe they just told them to scat!

Last year it was the dove couple here at my shore
until mama cat caught one and fed her kittens galore!
They were a cute couple, too, dancing to The Byrds for you know who!

      Delete
    2. I remember that
As I was around at your mat
And you just let it happen too
      How could you
Let their love be ruined by a cat
I guess it is better than a dog squashing them flat..haha

      Delete
    3. haha..oh, it's nature's way!
I can't protect them all at my bay
if they can't watch their backs
      mama cat will attack!
      she had babies to feed
      as they were in need.
I know...it's easier to watch rats get caught
as birds are a little more likeable lot. lol.
Still loved the doves dancing to Turn, Turn, Turn, though
that was one of my favorites posts at my show! hahaha.

      Delete
    4. haha yeah the rats don't bother me
      As they are too germy
And the birds well it is natures way
      As you say
      And with tummys to feed
      Those birds better take heed..haha
