- A typical winter sunset in Ohio. It has a little bit of everything. Thick grey clouds, bits of blue sky here and there, a pink and purple glow, and a golden sinking sun. I took this photo last week and haven't seen the sun since! It's been grey, dark, raining, sleeting, snowing and foggy. And cozy. Did I mention cozy? :)
- Harry and Spencer woke up with head colds. Harry slept all afternoon, which is a good thing because while he's awake, he wipes his nose on his sleeve. In one hour this morning, he had chapped the skin between his nose and mouth. Sigh. I thought maybe I wouldn't send him to school tomorrow but when he got up he was happy, laughing and bouncing up and down the hallway. Hmm. Feels better, at least for now! ha.
- I'm still getting comments on my "Dear Betsy" post. Thank you so very much for all of your sweet words. Some of you have written your own letters to yourselves. The ones I've seen have been so touching.
- It's so foggy here this afternoon, I can't see the neighbor's trees three houses down!
- The NASCAR seasons starts in a month. Just sayin'. :) Google spellcheck doesn't recognize NASCAR. What's up with that? lol.
- Spencer has lost 22 pounds since August simply by giving up his 2 lbs a day cheese obsession. (not voluntarily...his mom made him do it!) ha. He looks great!
- Did you know that ostriches can weigh up to 350 pounds, grow to over 9 feet tall and run at 45 mph for up to a half an hour without stopping? Whoa. (I told you this was random stuff!)
- We've enjoyed letting some kittens inside lately to get a break from the cold. This weekend it was 60 degrees warmer inside than outside. They got a little treat, some warm water to drink and they laid under the dining room table and stretched out for a while. Some still won't let me pet them but I'm doing my best to turn them from wild to domesticated. :)
I hope you've had a nice weekend!
Tomorrow starts a fresh new week!
I love Mondays. I'm in the minority, I know. :)
♥
Loved it, random or not.
ReplyDeleteSpell check should ignore NASCAR simply b/c it's all caps!! Fail.. lol
ReplyDeleteI've only been to Ohio once to watch Carmello Anthony suit up for the first time as a Knicks. It was FRREEZZINGGG!! I spent the entire weekend in the hotel with the heat on blast. I have to go back with a Winter coat to enjoy the actual feel/scenary of Ohio. :)
Jax ~
ReplyDeleteI first knew who Carmello was when he was on the Nuggets team with Allen Iverson. My Taylor was a huge Iverson fan when he was younger. :) And yes, Ohio can be really cold...and really hot. We get all the extremes here for the seasons. ha.
OMG on his weight loss that is awesome! ugh sorry on the head colds...just got home from taking my boys to spyfest in DC...great time...so tired...nice sunset...see random comments too...haha
ReplyDeletelol I wish I knew that back then!! My girl and I drove there on a whim to go see Anthony. All we brought was heels, 2 sweaters, and one spare set of socks. Talk about FREEZING! We would get halfway down a block before we were hugging each other shivering. lol Not to mention our poor toes with all that snow. Long Island is not that cold. Ever. lol
ReplyDeleteThe sunset is beautiful! The weather in Michigan has been similar.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the colds - but hooray for the weight loss!
I love your randomness, too, Brian! :)
ReplyDeleteNo idea was NASCAR is but yay for letting the kitties in from the cold!
ReplyDeleteSorry about Harry and Spencer - I hope they feel better. Well done to Spencer for the weight loss!
You like Mondays?!?! Wow! Take care
x
Jax ~ lol...well, at least you looked hot, right? :)
ReplyDeleteMari ~ the weight loss is huge. I was getting worried about his health!
ReplyDeleteKitty ~ nascar is a sport...race cars. :)
ReplyDeleteyep...monday is my favorite day of the week. if you were me, it would be yours, too! ha.
Yay for Spencer! Wonder what I could do without that would give me the same kind of success? :) ha I love Mondays too, I like the feeling of getting things on track again. The sunset is pretty, gives me an idea what my family saw tonight :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love your randoms. I know the colds must be tough on your men.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Mondays too! I wrote a whold post about it.
ReplyDeletehttp://mommyiscoocoo.blogspot.com/2011/08/i-hate-fridays.html
Love my family too but who wouldn't love a whole day with NANNY and kids. :)
mommyiscoocoo ~ well, it's nice to know I'm not the only one! Fridays are a bit daunting for me....I have to mentally gear up for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your random post, and I'm a Monday lover too!! Especially after retiring!! HaHa.
ReplyDeleteThat sunset is amazing!
Pastor loved his basket. I forgot to get a picture, but it turned out real cute...thought of you!
Michelle ~ if I could just figure out how to teach them to blow their noses, it would help a lot. They can't miss school every time they have a little cold, but I think they get weary at school having to wipe their noses for them. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ I'm sure your basket was great! They are fun to make, aren't they?
ReplyDeletewhat nice sunset betsy look awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gloria. How are you today? How's your dad?
ReplyDeleteLove some Mondays too I prefer the week than the weekend and I have my reasons...
ReplyDeleteHere I am betsy I arrived right now from the Hospital, He is better thanks dear
ReplyDeletegreat post, I wish those kitties didn't have to be cold,
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ me, too...love the week better than the weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad your dad is doing well!
laurie ~ well, for stray cats, they do have it pretty good...a heated, soft house on the back porch, all the food and water they want and love and attention if they'll allow it. :)
ReplyDeleteWeekends bring out the worst behaivior in my munchkins--my random thought.
ReplyDeleteYeah, for Spencer!!
I do NOT like Mondays, but understand why you do. :)
Wow, ostriches are amazing....I wish I could run at 45mph for half an hour. :)
Mondays, tuesdays all are nice, sometimes saturday and Sunday I cant breath and I dont stop!
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ yes...it all has to do with our schedules, who we live with, and how the routine changes. For me, I need the solitude of a school day to be emotionally healthy. lol. That's why by the end of the summer I'm teary, tired and a little pathetic! :)
ReplyDeleteOstriches are cool. They have very tiny brains, though. haha.
Hi Gloria, glad your dad is doing better.
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ yes, that is true. Summer is harder with the kids home all the time, too,..and their friends. :) It's fun, but busier and crazier. ha.
ReplyDeleteYes dear and sometimes is not fun :( you know. Hope tomorrow will be better.
ReplyDeleteHi rebecca, maybe tomorrow my Dad go to home
I like Mondays right now too, because they are one of my days off of babysitting. I love them but I have things that I need to do!
ReplyDeleteYou are not thinking about getting an ostrich, are you?
I hope Spencer is well enough for school tomorrow.
Rhonda ~ no ostrich, no. NO way. lol....
ReplyDeleteLOL really? Ostrich facts?
ReplyDeleteTruly random acts
But I never knew that
Especailly about them getting so fat
Give the poor kitties a break too
Sure Nugget didn't think it was nice of you
And you sucked the sun away
When you took the picture at your bay
You need to reverse it
Or poor Ohio will be stuck in a forever fog pit
And it would be all your fault
Locking the sun up in your camera vault..haha
Pat ~
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly Nugget doesn't mind the cats
they just touch noses and that is that
He doesn't run away
when they try to play
Really quite entertaining
to see them congregating!
We had 5 cats in to play
and he was right with them in the way.
ha.
Gray... that's what I remember most about our Ohio winters. Today was so wet and cloudy and gray I told the professor, "It feels like an Ohio winter day -- except it isn't freezing cold."
ReplyDeleteAnd wasn't it you who was saying how they could never come in because Nugget would have a fit?
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall I said he'd get over it
But I'm to big for an I told you so
Okay, maybe not, as I just let it flow..lol
Pat ~
ReplyDeleteWell, some here have said that as soon as I thought it was okay
and they were nice and all they did was play
that the cats would turn and take him down
and I'd be burying him under ground!
So, I still keep an eye out
but so far nobody pouts.
Probably because he's as big as a house
they'd rather have something the size of a mouse.
ha.
And yes, dear Pat, you can say "I told you so"
I do remember that from a while ago!
:)
Oh, I could relate to this post today.;) I am home with a cold thus have a bit of time for blogging finally.;) And I have a *random reflection* post today with a picture of a sky too, but a sunrise.;)
ReplyDeleteFun fact about ostrich;) It is such a cool bird.;)
Have a great Monday dear Betsy,
xoxo
I HATE MONDAYS!!
ReplyDeleteThere, I'v said it...
22 pounds???
That must been quite an obsession!!
;D~
Cozy?
I like the sound of that.
I kept it cozy too this weekend.
We also had fog yesterday,
lots of it.
I posted the pics on my blog.
Enjoy YOUR Monday!!
:)~
HUGZ
Love random posts! My favs. Hope the boys can do school today. Do you remember the ostrich farm just outside the village? Back when Tayler and Nate were little? It was really cool.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about the cold, we have one for the second week, not fun ... and congratulations on Spenser's weight loss - many times when people stop eating/or diminish lactose intake (as adults) they will loose weight/bloating ... your Ohio sky is wonderful! my monday morning started crazily - half way asleep, replying to all the questions of my son, preparing the breakfast i accidentally took my old dog's medication instead of my echinacea ... this can really only happen to me ... lol ... hope i won't start to bark :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm frightened of the ostriches now! LOL! Love this post, Betsy! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteJill ~ I thought those were Emus! Yes, I'm pretty sure because they sponsored Taylor's soccer team once and their were called Emus! lol...we still have his little jersey. So funny. They do look like little ostriches though.
ReplyDeleteZuzana ~ feel better, dear. Hope someone is there to pamper you with soup and tissues. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing random about your thoughts. Never has been, never will be.
ReplyDeleteBIRDIE!!!!! Well, I AM laughing hysterically but I do hope that pill won't hurt you.
ReplyDeleteTanna ~ maybe we should saddle them up and use them instead of cars!
ReplyDeletehaha knew you'd remember
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah since they are out in the wild, even though I doubt it, they could dismember
Pat ~
ReplyDeletehaha. I'd rather hear "I told you so" from you
than MrsU.
So I'll keep an eye on them all
when the cats come to call.
Betsy, i was laughing hysterically as well as i called the anti-poison center - just to make sure, you know ... they said it's ok ... i guess i'm lucky that we have a small dog! :-) and i keep drinking TONS of water to clean my system ... oh my! :-)
ReplyDeleteBirdie ~ only you. Glad you will be ok. Still...crazy way to start the week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset! That's wonderful about the weighloss and the quick recovery from the head cold.
ReplyDeleteAmyLK ~ I ended up keeping them home, although they act like they feel fine...just runny noses. :) So much for my quiet Monday. ha.
ReplyDeleteYes, do the letter! I'd love to read it and see old photos. So great!
I love random posts! It was foggy yesterday....all day long. I've never seen the fog hang around that long. Couldn't see the edge of our yard.
ReplyDeleteWow on the weight loss Spencer!! Is he happy without his cheese????
nanny ~ he misses the cheese but it hasn't been too big of a deal. He even gets an extra bowl of potato chips, which believe it or not is so much less in fat and calories! ha.
ReplyDeleteDon't tell anyone Betsy, but I love cheese almost as much as Spencer. ;)
ReplyDeleteIs it raining there Betsy? Because it is here, and it even thundered during the night. Really? A thunderstorm during January. Sigh. This winter is such a disappointment. :)
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ something is blowing in here now...dark clouds and really windy. We had warm temps and sun this morning...it felt like spring! But it's supposed to get very cold and yucky this afternoon. The sky is black to the west and blue in the east!
ReplyDeleteThe rain is supposed to turn to snow this evening. Grey skies on a Monday, not a good combination. :) How are the triplets feeling?
ReplyDeleteI kept Spencer and Harry home and they really have been fine all day. They are loud, laughing and bouncing around the house. ha. I think I'll send them tomorrow. It's really just their noses...and that they can't blow into a tissue. Makes for a lot of unpleasantness for those that care for them. ha.
ReplyDeleteI've got a boy who can't blow his nose either, and it's not the baby. Very frustrating.
ReplyDeleteDears my dad is at home but Mom say he has a terrible mood:( what thing!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad he's home, Gloria. Maybe his mood will get better as he gets settled and rests. Nobody wants a grouch patient. lol.
ReplyDeleteGloria, so glad he's at home!! Hope he cheers up soon.
ReplyDeleteMy mmomy worry me she is exausted to be a grounch patient (lol)
ReplyDeleteI talk with her and finally he is in bed now that is better!
well he never has been an easy patient dears sigh!!
ReplyDeletehope he feel better and let my mom rest:)
Gloria, I have a friend who had heart surgery, and he was a little moody afterward. It may take a little while, but he will probably feel more cheerful soon. :)
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ Yes, you ALL need some rest! Hope things get better now. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, nice seeing you today.I cant believe how much weight your son lost all from cheese??Its true though cheese is very fatty.
ReplyDeleteHave a great new week.
Thanks dears, is true we ll are tired is terrible all these days at the Hospital, but Im glad he is at home, maybe need to adapt again to home!
ReplyDeleteYes, Becky...and he ate an enormous amount every night for a snack. Crazy. He looks so good now. :)
ReplyDeleteGloria ~ yes, it's hard on everyone when a family member is in the hospital. Not just the visits, but the worry, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it wore out your dad just to get home. After everyone settles down and rests, it will be better.
Wish I could bring you dinner! :)
(that's different that unannounced company wanting to STAY for dinner!) lol.
hope the same Betsy:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset. I live in Ohio, too - in the northwestern part of the state. Very nice to meet you - I'm your newest follower!
ReplyDeleteCindy
I also live in Ohio and It kinda sucks that the rain melted all of our snow. I can't wait for more.
ReplyDeleteGood for Spencer! I wish that would happen to me :)
ReplyDeleteNascar keeps trying to come to NYC but have been unsuccessful finding space to build a stadium.
I am heading to Westerville OH on Thursday for a few days. I will be looking for those sunsets!
ReplyDeletei did not know that about ostriches. funny:)
ReplyDelete
