Memo Board and Cork Board Tutorials

I worked on two of my projects today. Both were for my newly painted laundry room. These are easy and inexpensive to make and I love the way they look! For the memo board...
  1. I bought a poster frame.
  2. Remove the Plexiglas and cardboard back and lay a piece of batting, the same size on the top of both. Cover with fabric, which has been cut a couple of inches larger, wrap around the edges and attach on the back with a staple gun.
  3. Lay back into frame.
  4. Arrange ribbon pieces in a decorative pattern. I held mine in place with straight pins until I got them symmetrical. Tuck into frame and secure entire board into frame. Attach upholstery tracks where the ribbons cross, letting them puncture into the cardboard securely.
  5. Finished!

for the cork board...
  1. I used an identical poster frame. No need to take apart.
  2. Fit top with thin cork tiles directly on Plexiglas. Trim pieces if necessary.
  3. They should fit inside the frame snugly like puzzle pieces.
  4. Secure with hot glue on all corners of the tiles.
  5. Finished!
Completed laundry room reveal will be this Monday. Fun!

  4. How clever and USEFUL! Right now my "small corkboard" is completely covered with grandchildren's photos. I need to get a bigger on, and really organize it. Thanks for the inspsiration.

In our small house, my laundry room has to serve many purposes: Laundry of course, pantry, Art Studio, and there are no free walls...Can't wait to see your "finished" laundry room.

  5. Thanks, all. Both were really easy to do. My laundry room is actually part of a hallway! I had this nice big wall to work with. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.

haha...well, that head in the toilet would be you
after you'd eaten a variety of food.
No, it's only a really big coffee cup.
Which you'll be spared with any luck.

  26. Those would make for a really cool gift and could be made in many different sizes. I have one that is half cork and half memo. Also one that is half chalkboard and half cork.

I have also seen where you can make a memo board out of really strong cardboard and just not having a frame. The material is wrapped around the edges. I guess that is a good way to recycle.

I am wondering if the boys will take over once they realize they can put up pictures of trains on there. You are so artistic and thank you so much for sharing this with us.

    God bless.

  35. This board is usually a gift shop in many places on the Internet or stored on the bulletin board. It is used to display several types of memos, greeting cards, postcards, notes, photos, notes and many other accessories.
