Friends and Enemies

I let Tiger come inside for a few minutes to let he and Nugget
continue to become friends. They just looked at each other like "Oh, hi."
Maybe it's the size. Nugget is actually bigger! I guess he doesn't feel like he might become dinner.
No, it was actually the parakeets that Tiger was most interested in.
In fact, he started chirping like a bird himself and eventually had to be
pulled off the cage. :) His mom did raise him on bird, after all!

  1. You're braver than I am. Guess you keep a close eye on the cats when you let them in.

  3. Well, I know you're no dummy, doll. Besides, the photographs "prove" you were watching him, haha!

  4. Old Kitty ~ yeah, I don't think Mr. and Mrs. Bird like Tiger too much. But they are grateful for their cage! ha.

  5. hahaha instead of fish in a barrel Tiger had bird in a cage
Maybe you just started a new idiom that will be all the rage
It's funny listening to them chirp
Expecting to lure their prey down and eat them giving a burp
Orlin would not rest until the cage was toast
    Then he would boast
Nugget looks a little depressed in the second one
Be funny to watch the pair run

  6. Depressed? Ha. No he's just munching on the wicker.
You'd think I never feed him the way he tries to eat cardboard and junk
    just like a goat.

Yeah, Tiger wasn't going to give up on the cage. If I ever wanted to keep him inside it would be a real problem. You should have seen the feathers fly! ha.

  12. Gloria ~ MrsU had the same thing with her hamsters! That's why I am so careful. But Nugget is a HUGE rabbit. Still, I watch closely.

  13. Gloria ~ oh I know...his ears are the best! They are so soft. I'm so used to seeing his floppy ears that the ones that stand up look funny to me now.

  15. Most kittens have to be pried off bird cages, and most feel the need to dip their paws into fish bowls too. It's kind of like climbing the drapes (or screen doors). I suppose they grow up after a while and give up some of those bad habits. (Good thing for rabbits... maybe.)

  16. Ooh, you ARE brave introducing him to Nugget and the parakeets.
Please don't turn your back !

  17. Martha ~ our old cats never bothered the birds. They would sit and swish their tails at them, but never try to get at them. But then, they never tasted one, either. ha.

I think I like the cats being outside. They keep warm in their heated box and the mess stays out there. Not to mention there isn't a litter box in here. ha.

  18. Martha rhymed there at the end
    haha a growing trend
Yeah you would always have to watch is they came indoors
Because by the time they were done the cage would like it had been through many wars

  19. you are def brave...as my cat would have had one for lunch and one for dinner...that is a huge rabbit though...

  25. Bunnies have to chew on things for their teeth. If you want to make Nugget really happy, give him a branch to chew on. (NOT pine.) He will be so happy1 First thing he'll do is take off all the bark. I used to give apple branches (gathered after the farmers trimmed their trees) to give to our bunny. She would drag the branch into her corner and start nibbling away! Cindy

  26. Cindy ~ that is really good to know! Our neighbors have an apple tree...I'll have to ask for a branch! :)

  31. When I saw the bird cage and the kitten on the side, my first thought was, "Oh no." and I thought about my baby hamster and how the cats are faster then we are.

I think that we sometimes forget that they are born with a killer instinct which they need to survive in the wild. And if they are not caught and domesticated right away they fall back on their instincts to survive.

The only thing I can say is never ever let your guard down, it only takes one moment. Cats raised indoors tend to be calmer and less wild but it is still there, but the cats raised outdoors are different and have a more wild side in which they will attack things they think are food.

Nugget may not always be larger but is good that they becomes friends. The birds are just screwed, if the cats catch them. I would make sure there is a lock on the cage and it is safe to where the cats cannot break into it.

The hard part is to forgive the cat if it harms another pet. But since Jericho is sitting here beside me, I guess he was forgiven. I could not blame him for doing something that was in his nature and bred for his survival. I still miss Wendy, she was a good hamster.

    God bless.

  32. Nugget and Tiger look like buddies.
But that picture on the bird cage is scary...especially for the bird. I hope he has a strong heart : )
Our cats make that chirping noise when they see birds outside. Must be an instinct.

  33. aw!!!!!!!! love seeing the animals!

  34. Those cats retain their wild streak. My daughter's cat would not even open an eye if a bird sat on his nose!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mrs U ~ they certainly do have that hunting instinct. And as I watched these kitten's mom teaching them hunting in action, they really have it. She would not only catch birds, we would climb trees and take eggs from nests in her mouth. It really was incredible. They have had the schooling and have the taste for that kind of eating, too.

  36. LadyCat ~ Tiger looks so much like our old cat, Alex, that our parakeets probably think he's come back after all there years! ha. The are no strangers to cats since we used to have 2 in the house for years.

  37. So cute, I love your pet rabbit.;) If I did not have Sammy (who is sleeping on a keyboard next to me right now;) I sure would get one.;)) As unfortunately I do not think he would be as tolerant as Tiger.;)
