Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.

ReplyDeleteOh good...perfect timing! I'm taking this advise for myself, too! It's a fresh, new day! :) And dear Jen, you look gorgeous in that profile picture!
ReplyDeleteNice post, but I always amended that second quote to read: "Today is the first day of the rest of your life... But then again, so was yesterday, and that sucked, too!" Not exactly a lemonade-making attitude, huh, doll? Haha!
ReplyDeletemust you rain on my parade? :) OK...where's my umbrella?...
ReplyDeleteIf "my" rain backs up and causes floods, you can always drag out your handy-dandy surfboard and rise above it all...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset, Betsy. Love it! Doesn't it make you feel there is a strong presence in the Universe?
ReplyDeleteRegarding the quotaion, reminds me of Scarlet O'Hara,
"'Cause after all, tomorrow is another day" LOL
You r are a very prolific blog poster - puts me to shame with me limping on one post a wekk or so! LOL

what a great inspiring post!
ReplyDelete"This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!"
ReplyDeleteWell since yesterday is gone and tomorrow never comes
ReplyDeleteTo all even us little rhyming bums
Today is the first day of the rest of your life
So I guess we better make it good and ignore the strife
Even if the SSDD occurs once more
Should still try and soar
Now my uplifting niceness is through
Back to going into a miserable stew..haha
Yay!!! A new day, a new beginning!
ReplyDeleteTake care

ReplyDeleteI used to love the Theme Thursday group! Such fun! It fizzled though...is it getting a new life?
ReplyDeleteJill ~ a lot of us are hoping so! It's under new management and the rules have been reverted back to the original ones!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, Betsy - it's the perfect flip side to my post about the down-side to the upcoming season, and depression about (seemingly) nothing at all.

Funny how they say to live each day as if it is our last, which it might well be. But we seem to always live with the thought that we will always have a new day tomorrow. We must be strong believers in hope.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in on Theme Thursday.
God bless.
An uplifting thought Betsy, but given my continuing back pain I am hoping that today is merely the beginning of just a short, painful interlude. Painkillers are not helping much - tonight I will try the pub.
ReplyDelete"Live every day as if it were your last, and one day... you'll be right."
ReplyDeleteBetsy huggs and blessings! gloria
