Kitchen ~ A Creative Tuesday Sketch

please click on drawing to enlarge
*******
Kitchen is the theme this time at Creative Tuesdays. I thought I'd do something a little different and show the view from the outside looking in! This cute little house is from my imagination. I love it's stone walls, pretty windows and it no doubt has a thatched roof. :) Like most kitchens, it's the heart of this home, with it's typical gathering spaces, delicious smells and warmth. Of course it would have a kitty peering inside, flowering potted plants on the sill, and something yummy from the oven cooling in the open window. And don't forget the bird singing to me while I do dishes inside! :) And can you hear the tea kettle whistling? OK...enough standing outside! Come in and have a piece of peach pie! Ala mode? :)

  16. Wow you do just keep putting more and more detail into each one
    This one had a ton
    One of your best too
Of course one thing is due
Really think the cat would stay there with the bird and pie
He/she would make one of them die..hahaha

  17. Thanks, Cat...all of my favorites, too!

  19. Pat ~
    aw, look...you're being a dear
    and even kind of sincere!
I guess you have a point
kitty would be out of joint
    with food live and baked
    just would have to shake
    his little behind
    and be unkind.
    Should have included three more
to show all the cats at my door!

  33. I could picture myself in that kitchen, just daydreaming gazing out through the window at the lovely little cottage garden in front of it. There's your next subject - a cottage garden?

  39. Oh I love this....I must stand out side a little longer and just ponder every little detail. But do save me a piece of that pie, I'll be in soon as I pet the kitty.

Betsy, you have a "magical" imagination which just blesses me and makes me smile.

  46. This is fantastic Bestsy! I just love how you have us looking in from outside! That is just so creative! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I like the point of view you chose and the kitty on the windowsill is the perfect finishing touch.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wow, incredible, Betsy, and you did this all from imagination! Whoa. I seem to recall you saying once how you could never do that, have to look at something, but this clearly shows otherwise. What a clever interpretation--from the outside looking in, being beckoned in as it were. that is one smart kitty. I wonder if it loves peach pie as much as I do? this must have taken you yonkers. ty so much for doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mmm ~ actually, I meant that the house didn't look anything like the one I live in..that I dreamed it up. But, it is true that I usually have to look at something to draw it. This time I didn't do that...just thought of how I wanted it to look. Maybe I was using that as a crutch before? I don't know..but most of the things here are pretty straight forward...cat, pie, bird...easy to to draw.

I had originally thought I would show more of what was inside the kitchen, too, but it lost the effect of the geranium and pie. I thought they looked better with shadows behind them and it gave it more depth.

    ReplyDelete
  50. You've got it all happening here! I love it. Nest, bird, geraniumn, cooling pie, kitty. I really like the way you did the bricks, just a few here and there. And the peach pie? I'll be over.

  51. Beautiful...love the colors and the amazing whimsical feel! POP ART MINIS

  53. Found you via C.T., love your style and this picture of a kitchen! I do hope the kitty you drew gets to come inside, get some warm food, and is petted by some nice humans (-: The bricks on the outside are lovely, great illo.
