Kitchen is the theme this time at Creative Tuesdays. I thought I'd do something a little different and show the view from the outside looking in! This cute little house is from my imagination. I love it's stone walls, pretty windows and it no doubt has a thatched roof. :) Like most kitchens, it's the heart of this home, with it's typical gathering spaces, delicious smells and warmth. Of course it would have a kitty peering inside, flowering potted plants on the sill, and something yummy from the oven cooling in the open window. And don't forget the bird singing to me while I do dishes inside! :) And can you hear the tea kettle whistling? OK...enough standing outside! Come in and have a piece of peach pie! Ala mode? :)

ReplyDeleteWow you do just keep putting more and more detail into each one
ReplyDeleteThis one had a ton
One of your best too
Of course one thing is due
Really think the cat would stay there with the bird and pie
He/she would make one of them die..hahaha
Thanks, Cat...all of my favorites, too!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, this is so gorgeous and detailed. I think you've captured the true essence of 'kitchen'.
ReplyDeletePat ~
ReplyDeleteaw, look...you're being a dear
and even kind of sincere!
I guess you have a point
kitty would be out of joint
with food live and baked
just would have to shake
his little behind
and be unkind.
Should have included three more
to show all the cats at my door!
Thanks, Christine. You're a sweetheart! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sketch is adorable! It would make a wonderful greeting card. I love the kitty sitting on the ledge :)
ReplyDeleteI love the details of the heart and the music notes. But I'm pretty sure my kitty would be licking that pie in the window!
ReplyDeleteLove your drawing and the description sounds so homey!
ReplyDeleteIt's late but I just have to leave a comment. You have to create a book of these drawings.
ReplyDeleteThe house might be in your imagination Betsy, but the style and the welcome inside is all you. Now pour me that cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely enjoy a cup of tea with you...a little cream and honey please!!
ReplyDeleteLove your drawing! Perfect!

ReplyDeletefragile ~ come right on in...I'm serving pie...even for breakfast! lol...
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the next drawing where the kitty will be looking OUT from the INSIDE!
ReplyDeleteAnita ~ I probably would have let them inside by now but I'm afraid they will think Nugget is lunch! ha.
ReplyDeleteI could picture myself in that kitchen, just daydreaming gazing out through the window at the lovely little cottage garden in front of it. There's your next subject - a cottage garden?
ReplyDeleteKathleen ~ that would be a good one...but I'm at the mercy of Mr. Toast! :) Maybe he'll read your comment!
ReplyDeleteYou knocked the socks off of this one!! Just love all the details and color you managed to sneak in. Just adorable and I can just smell that peach pie too!
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful illustration.

ReplyDeleteso inviting I think I'll come in for a spell lol
ReplyDeleteI remember having a canary hanging over my kitchen sink and it was so happy singing there.
Lady ~ come on in! You know, I almost drew a bird cage hanging in the window! :) btw...my parakeets are in the kitchen and they are singing right now, too!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this....I must stand out side a little longer and just ponder every little detail. But do save me a piece of that pie, I'll be in soon as I pet the kitty.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, you have a "magical" imagination which just blesses me and makes me smile.
Wanda ~ when you finally come in, please plan on staying a good long while! I've missed you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Betsy! I gave you a shout-out on my post today. Thank you for following me. I hope to visit more after I get some stuff done around the house.
ReplyDeleteThis is so warm and inviting, Betsy! Yummy, pie! A wonderful illustration! xo
ReplyDeleteI have said it many times before, love your drawings.;) You should be an illustrator.;)
ReplyDeletexoxo
This is so cute and i love the gingham that the pie is placed on. Good idea to do the kitchen from the outside too :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is gorgeous. Love the colours and the bird singing. The pie is making my mouth water :)
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic Bestsy! I just love how you have us looking in from outside! That is just so creative! :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the point of view you chose and the kitty on the windowsill is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteWow, incredible, Betsy, and you did this all from imagination! Whoa. I seem to recall you saying once how you could never do that, have to look at something, but this clearly shows otherwise. What a clever interpretation--from the outside looking in, being beckoned in as it were. that is one smart kitty. I wonder if it loves peach pie as much as I do? this must have taken you yonkers. ty so much for doing it.
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ actually, I meant that the house didn't look anything like the one I live in..that I dreamed it up. But, it is true that I usually have to look at something to draw it. This time I didn't do that...just thought of how I wanted it to look. Maybe I was using that as a crutch before? I don't know..but most of the things here are pretty straight forward...cat, pie, bird...easy to to draw.
ReplyDeleteI had originally thought I would show more of what was inside the kitchen, too, but it lost the effect of the geranium and pie. I thought they looked better with shadows behind them and it gave it more depth.
You've got it all happening here! I love it. Nest, bird, geraniumn, cooling pie, kitty. I really like the way you did the bricks, just a few here and there. And the peach pie? I'll be over.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...love the colors and the amazing whimsical feel! POP ART MINIS
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely picture and a great take of looking in from outside. This is the kind of place I would love to live in.
ReplyDeleteFound you via C.T., love your style and this picture of a kitchen! I do hope the kitty you drew gets to come inside, get some warm food, and is petted by some nice humans (-: The bricks on the outside are lovely, great illo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketch Betsy
ReplyDeleteCute,I eally like all the added tid bits; kitty, nest, potted flowers.
ReplyDeleteBetsy you are indeed getting better all the time. Love this cottage window.
ReplyDeleteQMM
Oh, so pretty. Only one thing wrong - surely the kitten would be eating the pie?
ReplyDeleteYou have a great imagination Betsy. I love your take on the theme.
