This is so true, Betsy. Since we have been taking care of Aunt Trula, she is so happy to be in her own home, she laughing more, telling me funny stories her childhood. Her short term memory is better too.
One of my goals each day, is to make her laugh..and I end up being the one laughing!
Wanda ~ that is a sweet goal to make her laugh. It's good for both of you! I had a weird day today with lots of little things going wrong. And a friend not only made me smile, but made me feel special, too. I'm sure you are making Aunt Trula feel special! Love her name, by the way! :)
I think I can spread the happy As I can be quite yappy And make no sense what so ever Pretending to be clever So if they don't laugh with me When they come to see They laugh at this loon So either way I work as well as a funny cartoon..haha
quite true. a broken spirit does more than sap my strength. it puts me down for the count... or maybe that is exactly sapping my strength. never try and outthink a proverb:)
Hospitals have hierarchies and working near the top before quitting for health reasons, I was surprised by one of the janitors on my last day there. He came up to me and said that he had been picked to tell me that they were very sad to see me go. I asked him why and he told me that I was one of the few "higher ups" that they all knew they would get a smile from each time they saw me. He also told me that it made them all feel worth while to have me smile and acknowledge them because almost always they were ignored.
I have never forgotten that compliment from almost 30 years ago, and I have always had smiles for everyone since I can remember, so I guess they just come naturally.
A smile is the biggest language barrier breaker that we have in the world. A smile is a smile in just about every language in the world, except for the few tribes that think they are aggressive instead of friendly.
And what you wrote is so true, smiles are the best medicine. When the wee wittle ones smile I always feel better.
What a wonderful quote--each day should be filled with laughter. It can be the best "medicine" in the world for whatever ails us. Your posts usually put a smile on my face-thanks. Mickie :)
Hear, hear! I couldn't agree more. My problem is I find something humorous in just about every situation. Keeps me feeling good, but others may doubt my sanity.
Hi Besty, I didn't see a personal email address any where on the page. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions to you, a bit more personal, regarding my newly diagnosed ASD son. Feel Free to email me at allisonc242@yahoo.com to get the conversation started. I have really enjoyed reading your blog, I came across it a day or two ago, and am on bed rest after a tonsillectomy! I look forward to hearing from you, My best wishes and regards, Allison

I smile every time I visit you!
Whether looney or serious

And I always laugh
