Today the boys decided they wanted to spend the day in the living room. Here's what the room usually looks like. Nice, neat, and clean.
I could hear furniture being rearranged and when I came in to see what was going on, this is what I found. I rescued a few toppled house plants and decided to let them have fun. At least I could vacuum under the furniture before moving everything back. I could also give their bedroom and TV room some good cleaning while they weren't camped out in them all day. This reminds me of the days of blanket forts...except without the blankets. ha.
Then I noticed this in the foyer. Ummmm....LOL!!! Gee, I hope nobody rings the doorbell. I'm going to have a hard time answering the front door today!!!
♥
You have such a wonderful attitude and show such love and support. I learn so much about acceptance from you. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, it's still the beginning of summer vacation, happygirl. By the time August rolls around I'm quite ready for school to start and the games to be done. haha. But for now, it's kind of fun to see where their imaginations take them and what they do to entertain themselves. :)
ReplyDeleteSo, do they move it all back when you tell them to? I think (that last pic)he was taking it to his room! ;D
ReplyDeletejulie ~ yes, they are good about obeying! And Spencer usually picks up all of his things and moves them back to his room when he's finished. If not, I still coax them into helping. :)
ReplyDeletesmiles. i will make sure my boys do not see this post...lol. we went swimming today. glad you let them play a bit betsy
ReplyDeleteWow they get away with a lot
ReplyDeleteMust not fear getting caught
Good job looking on the bright side too
Even if it is more cleaning by you
But your ocd tendancies like that
So unless someone comes to your welcome mat
Ringing the doorbell and expecting you to answer fast
Why not let the fun last
You are a patient woman! And I agree with happygirl.
ReplyDeleteWow. Just... wow. Haha!
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ if you look closely, you'll see that they had both entries blocked. I wonder if that was to keep the mom out. haha.
ReplyDeletePat ~ the bright side..yes, it's a survival technique.
ReplyDeleteTonight the room is all back to 'neat'.
So no harm done
I guess we all won!
Now this is just what summer vacation is all about.
ReplyDeleteViva la Summer!
This looks like my kind of fun- I LOVE rearranging furniture. My kids think it's funny when I do it, so I could see them doing this same thing on their own when they get a little older. Good for you for letting them have some fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer vacation !
ReplyDeleteThe boys are full of imagination and easily entertain themselves it seems.
You were gifted with the patience of a saint :)
I'm smiling at your living room :)

I love the way you looked at their rearranging idea!! Those boys sure are tricky!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun they must have had! My daughter still reminiscences about blanket forts and all the fun she and her cousin used to have.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious... what did they do in the room after rearranging? Did they consult with each other and work as a team to move the furniture? Funny boys. I like your keep mom out theory.
ReplyDeleteChristian ~ the big empty floor space was used to spread out all of Spencer's train pictures. And then they laid on the furniture like it was a big barge. ha. And Spencer moved it all back when they were done!
ReplyDeleteLove win-win situations. You are so amazing to see the bright side of everything. The picures were so fun to look at...
ReplyDeleteIn my list of one thousand gifts, I just added you and the smile I always get here!
Aw, Wanda,...now that is very sweet. Thank you!! I've seen so many gratitude lists around blog land lately...I really need to start one!
ReplyDeleteYou are a wonderful mom! thanks for sharing...Pat H
ReplyDeleteI give them points for non-destructive creativity. Don't you wonder what the story was in their heads about today?
ReplyDeleteMarieElizabeth ~ oh yes, I always wonder! Maybe they are making a big train! ha.
ReplyDeleteWere they building a train?
ReplyDeleteAre you pulling my leg about the shoes???? Because that spot is just a block from my job.
you should get the mom of the year award!
ReplyDelete:-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Betsy !
Regards,
Pierre
Betsy, this post made my laugh and cry at the same time, as it is so touching. While other mothers would have to compose themselves in order not to loose it, you turn this around to a fun event - which it actually is when you think about it. I wish every child had a mom like you.;))
ReplyDeletexoxo
Oh, Betsy you have so much more patience than I. I guess all youngsters enjoy making a den though - whether with the furniture or with a sheet over a table.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say I made Granola to your recipe at the weekend - it was fun to make and it is utterly delicious. I don't think it will be long before the jar is empty!
Oh what fun they were having!! I am afraid I would have had a heart attack seeing all my furniture moved around like that!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for sure!
Hugs
SueAnn
Looks like something I used to do as a kid. Move the furniture around and make forts in the living room. Of course, mom was never too happy about it.
ReplyDeleteBetsy you are truly an amazing mother/woman. You have such a positive outlook on things & working it to your advantage too.. getting into their rooms while theý were occupied. Yup, your a wonderful Mum!!
ReplyDeleteWell, you sure aren't having a boring summer are you? :) I liked the two pictures--they reminded me of the "whats wrong in this picture" features in my kids magazines. Is that a pile of towels on the living room floor? :)
ReplyDeleteSO THAT IS WHY you didn't come to the door yesterday!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteGood fun. I always like to REGAIN ORDER again though...wish I didn't!
Giggle! Boys will be boys!
ReplyDeleteThere must never be a dull moment around your house. Hopefully being the strong boys they are they move it all back when they are done. :-)
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ no, those are stacks of papers that belong to Spencer. Hundreds of pictures of trains he has printed off the internet. They go where ever he goes. ha.
ReplyDeletejenny ~ oh yum...I haven't made that granola in a while. It is a good recipe, isn't it! Glad you're enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI love your house Betsy, but even more I love that you are so adaptable to the boys and allow them their fun!
ReplyDeletePat ~ well, thanks. :) It's really more just surviving. We'd all be miserable if I insisted everything was untouchable...especially me! haha.
ReplyDeleteThat's great!
ReplyDeleteThis could be a side business, furniture movers!
ReplyDeletelol what can you do Kids will be kids lol
ReplyDeleteThat makes me laugh,as I can sure relate to that. I have 4 sons, 1 daughter, mostly raised now, but when my daughter and granddaughters were here, it looked about like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your adventures with us. I can count on smiling whenever I visit your blog. My son Alex also has autism. He is 13 years old and the sweetest boy I know. Our experiences are similar, but yours is multiplied by 3 - which means 3 times the joy. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Maria! I'm glad you visit. Big hugs to you and your sweet boy! :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Betsy...
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with some Of the previous comments...What a kind, patience, and sweet person [mother] you appear to be with a wonderful!
[light] sense Of humour "in hand" too!
Thanks, for sharing!
deedee ;-D
Betsy, I think that the chair and ottoman at the front door is very welcoming..come in and plop down! Genius!
ReplyDeleteKim ~ haha...good point. It says relax and sit even before we can get you into the house! :)
ReplyDeleteCrumbs Betsy, you need all your five men to put that little lot back LOL.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you at my place reading the phone saga LOL. I've been very busy outside BlogLand lately. See ya soon ~ Eddie
stevie ~ haha...love the way you worded that. :)
ReplyDeleteBetsy - you are such an awesome roll-with-the-punches kinda mama. Thanks for being a sweet inspiration! XO
ReplyDeleteAppreciate your co-operation & patience, Kids would have really enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very stately front door and love the grey and white tiled hallway entrance too. I note too how you have that perfect blend of taste combined with cozy comfort...even if sometimes disheveled somewhat. LOl. Did you manage to at least have the boys put back the lounge couch in the hallway? I certainly hope so!
ReplyDeleteSounds like everything came to its place. They had fun and you cleaned under the furnitures.
ReplyDeleteman and van London
I saw Spencer's stacks in one of the pictures! I don't think there was room for him to roll them all out though the way that furniture was rearranged. :) This time was toppled house plants; I remember once when things were balanced precariously on the mantle (maybe) or was it somewhere else...can't remember now.
