Easter Lamb Sugar Cookies

For more Sweets for a Saturday recipes, click HERE!
Yes, I'm counting sheep!
I've had this darling Brown Bag Cookie Mold for ages
but never used it until today. Their website has special
dough recipes formulated for the molds and several
helpful hints in making the cookies. If you are interested
in visiting their website, click HERE!
These are big cookies! Bigger than my hand!
It was kind of like playing with Play-Doh!
After baking, I did a thin rough coat of frosting. Then used a pastry bag and tip to make the wool. The website gave a lemon sugar cookie recipe. I adapted it to
almond since I made lemon brownies today.
********
Cookie Mold Almond Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 T almond extract
1/2 T water
2 cups flour
1/4 t salt
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, extract and water.
Add flour and salt and mix well.
Chill dough 20 minutes.
Lightly oil and flour mold.
Mold cookies and bake 350 for 14 minutes or until edges are brown.
One recipe made 5 cookies.
******
I think they will look cute tucked into the Easter baskets!
And they smell wonderful!

  17. I could use a plateful of these when I'm trying to fall asleep. Eating, that is.....not counting.

  18. They are so sweet! You spent some time on these!

  19. Well weren't you creative today
Then putting your cookies on display
So decorated one might not want to eat
Although for some that might be a tough feat
But they can be used to make people sleepy twice
Counting them as they look all nice
    Or filling your tummy
As for some they'd be yummy
Either way sleep will be brought on
    Then look night becomes dawn
    Yawn it is late
    You sealed my fate
    Off to bed I go
With the FRIGGIN hiccups in tow

  24. very nice job Betsy. They sound like lots of work, when I first saw the picture I wondered if they were for one of your catering jobs but making 200 of these would really be a BIG job, wouldn't it?

  27. Pat ~ oooh, the hiccups! Hope they went away so you could sleep!
I have a trick for ending those better than holding your breath or drinking a gallon, if you're interested.

Yes, you'd think my cookies would be too pretty to eat, but that doesn't seem to stop any one around here. lol...

  28. Oh, it's so good to know that people still like Brown Bag company. I rather lost touch with them after my uncle changed jobs, but they always had crazy-fun stuff. Did you ever see the one with the pig eating watermelon? That was the first one my uncle designed for them.

I used to adore making paper ornaments in the casting molds. I had TONS of Christmas tags too. It was my favorite part of Christmas.

Thanks for bringing back happy memories, Betsy!

  29. @Brian: "Batsy?" Are you implying that our Betsy is "batty?"

  32. I so like how you frosted them...I have my old childhood lamb cutter and not quite as cool as yours, but what I had as a child...and my Mum gave me her lamb cake mold! It was an Easter tradition! Thanks for the memories!
