A Little Village Tour

Our little Midwestern village got snow today!
And we're supposed to get a lot more over night!
I happened to have my camera this morning and snapped
some pictures as we drove home from church.
Here's our church. This is the original wing built in 1802.
I've posted about the Tiffany window HERE.
That's the post office across the street. Tiny! :)
And don't you love those vintage street decorations!?
I wonder how old they are!
Our little village boasts a total of two traffic lights
and well, no traffic at all! See...here is Main Street! Here's the school. We passed a tax levy for a new 21st century building. Ground breaking is this coming year. I love the vintage look of this building though. I think William Henry Harrison attended in this building, it's so old! haha...I'm kidding...kidding! Our family is leaving their mark on this K-12 school, though. We gave them their only set of triplets! And Taylor holds the record for the highest number of points scored in a single basketball game....36. And here is University Drive again! Not quite so colorful as it was in the fall but at night the lamp posts and trees are pretty wrapped with Christmas lights. Let's turn here into my neighborhood. I love it when the pine trees are frosty with snow! And my street! Looks like we're going to need to do some shoveling! And here we are! A whole 2 minute drive! Won't you come in for coffee?

  3. Where to start? I love, totally love, your church. I've lived in small towns with few traffic lights, and I live in one now, although I think it has a few more than that. The funny thing is that it's only small right in the downtown-ish area, then you leave and you're headed to the big city within moments.

Our post office is small too, and the elementary school in town looks similar to the one you showed. They've built new schools though elsewhere for older kids.

Strange that I drive on a dirt road to my house, I technically live in a small town, but in reality I almost live in one of the biggest cities in our country.

Okay, I'll take that coffee now.

  12. We don't get snow here, in fact this time of year you're more likely to die of heat exhaustion than freezing, although we have been unseasonably wet lately.

  28. You really are super woman. Your house always looks immaculate! I have to tell you I took a long lengthy look at your blog the other nite and the video of one of the boys with his foot (cute foot by the way) moving the knife back and forth has stuck in my head and I watched it over and over....I love that video! I think about it all the time! I also didn't know that Tess (Willow) is you big sis. Your girls are something else!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I meant...You girls...not Your girls..Also...is it true that Bach is your uncle? Sounds like Bub's your uncle doesn't it..OK I think this snow is stuck in my brains!

  30. I just love when it finally snows. It has been brown for much too long. The worst is that the white stuff never comes in the right amount.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Well, that explains how he knows about Willow's chocolate cake and how he talks about his visits and photo shoots there. I was feeling left out..somehow missing something! Now I feel better...it's family! hahaha
I'll tell you, the precision of the movement of the knife is excellent!
