I've Decked The Halls!

Come on in and I'll show you around!
There's always a candy dish just inside the front
door. It's become a tradition that people look for! The gold beaded topiary is extra festive wearing my collection of vintage snowflake pins! A silver bread basket holds some tiny packages and vintage ornaments. I've had the Silent Night wrapped one since I was 12 years old. I played a Christmas piano duet with a pianist and she gave me a little piano pin in that box as a thank you. Mr. Fern was nice enough to move across the room and give up his space for the tree. :) It's a nice spot since we can also enjoy it from the foyer and dining room, too! We used to get a live tree. I miss the fresh smell! I don't miss stringing the lights, the prickly needles or forgetting to water it! This one looks pretty real, I think. This little skiing snowman was on the family tree for my first Christmas 49 years ago! There's always so much to look at! I love the variety of ornaments and the stories behind each one! And of course, nothing is more magical than the tree at nighttime! My huge frosty penguin is keeping watch over the Charlie Brown tree in the family room! I couldn't resist buying him several years ago. He was just too cute and quirky! The kitchen sink needed a little something! The top of the china cabinet did, too!
And of course I had to have a little holiday spirit
at my desk so I can feel the Christmas cheer
while I visit all of you!

  1. I love how you decorate your house for Christmas! & yes, your tree does look Real.. very nice!! I esp. love that you have 'special' & meaningful decorations, like your pin collection and first ornament. My boys have stuff like that, but I'm doubting it's going to be things they take with them. 'smiles'... oh well, that means they get to stay on my tree forever! :-)

Thank you for getting me in the mood to dig through more boxes in my basement and decorate some more! 2 more weeks and the boys will be home!! Can you tell I'm excited?

    Blessings & Hugs,
    ~ Coreen

  3. What a lovely tour Betsy.. I just love everything you have done. You have such an elegant home, and your flair for design and decor just shine in every corner.

I passed on ornaments to my adult children over the years that meant something special to them. Now they hang on their family trees.

Merry Christmas dear friend with love and hugs.

  32. Well, I think you sell yourself far too short there, Betsy, on your tree. It is definitely no Charlie Brown wimpy thing at all. In fact, it looks incredible. Masterfully decorated and wonderful decorations. And, yes, it looks so real! Whoa. big too.

Your fireplace unit looks so cozy. Love ALL those stockings. now, do the triplets get into those or not? Can you write a post about that? It would be so interesting!

Now, that spiky thing above your workspace looks like it could really hurt actually if it ever fell down and hit your noggin!

    ReplyDelete
  33. ..and a read door too? how perfect is that?!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mmm dear, take another look...the Charlie Brown tree is beside the penguin! LOL! :)

The triplets really don't get into the stockings! We have to call them back and show them that there are little presents in them! ha. So un-kid like, huh? They mostly get little bags of chips and suckers..their favorite things, you know!

  36. It all looks very cosy and welcoming . . . I might pop round if I find myself in the neighborhood and pinch a few "bon-bons" from that dish in the hall.

I always have a dish of "sweeties" on my dining room table just in case someone calls (nobody every does though. *sob*).

I wouldn't keep that heavy plant on top of the printer, the lids aren't made to take that weight, and just think what would happen if you spilt some water into the printer. . . .FLASH! BANG! No more printer!

  38. Your decorations are beautiful! I live by myself so I didn't do much but I did set a few things out.

I love that some of your decorations have meanings behind them. Mine really don't and I bet I can't even remember where I got half of them.
