This end of the room is usually full of college men watching football!
Recognize the print from my sidebar?
My favorite WWII British war poster...and I found it in the perfect color!
View from the kitchen. It's a strange lay-out, isn't it?
The walls seem to change color with the time of day.
Finally brought the monster fern in for the cooler seasons.
He's about 6 feet wide!
Mr Fern doesn't fit in the fern stand anymore,
but the purple shamrock does! And she's liking it here by
the eggplant colored sofa. :)
I got that cute print of the boys on the triplet's
homecoming blown up and framed. It was only
$8.75 at Sam's Club for a 20x30 print. Only took me
17 years to get that off of my to-do list! ha.
View from the window seat.
clean the carpet, then we're all set! :)

ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
You did a nice job!
ReplyDeleteThe feminine touches are perfect - frilly pillows and picture of the boys. Nicely done.
Oh, love the colour of the walls. I'm wondering whether to get my bedroom done grey. Thought it might look too dark but it doesn't look at all dull in your room. I really like the angled ceiling and interesting windows. It all looks delightful, Betsy. And well done for getting a picture of your little (ha ha!) boys at last! I still have to get a picture of my daughter's wedding enlarged - four years and counting.. Maybe I'll manage it by their silver anniversary!
ReplyDeleteIf you can handle one more man...My dearest and I would like to move in, I'll help in the kitchen. ((smile))
ReplyDeleteBetsy....it's lovely...I only wish we had a picture of you on that couch with a cup of tea and a big satisfied smile!
Yes, i think Wanda has a brill idea there actually. It is soooo calming those walls and the cleanliness when the photos were taken. I can't decide what I like best, after the wall colour. Maybe it's the mantelpiece with photo--again so orderly, or perhaps the candle collection--very cozy indeed. Those couches look so comfy too. No wonder Taylor can fall asleep so well on them. lol. What do the kids think of that photos up there?
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so serene and inviting. GREAT job!! What does hubs think of it too?
Wanda and Mmm ~ ok...you're all three invited to move in! What's a few more people, right? :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great Betsy....very cozy and comfortable. That homey feeling. The colors are soft and relaxing for the room. And the photo of the boys was the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I really like how calm and peaceful the room looks. The wall color is a perfect compliment to the pieces you have in it. And I really really like the monster fern. That must weigh a ton! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteoh betsy this looks very nice...very comfortable space....inviting...
ReplyDeleteIts beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSplendid! You've struck a nice balance of feminine and manly. It was fun to see the layout; yes, it is unique, but very livable. I love the arched doorway that goes into your kitchen and all the windows... you know I love windows!
ReplyDeletelike the new color you picked...very calming!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I appreciate it!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I can't wait for the day I'll be able to have a nice living area that Clee won't destroy. :)
ReplyDeleteNatalie ~ oh, believe me...boys use this room and get it in a semi-destroyed state. ha. That's why it needed repainting! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so welcoming! "Come in and take the weight off your legs!" And the print of the boys is perfect there! Funnily enough, only this week I framed pencil portraits of my two which were done 35 years ago!
ReplyDeleteThe room looks great; what's the next project? :)
Looks fantastic and I love your WWII poster. I didn't know you could get them in purple. Fab!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I just finished readying the outside of my home for winter, bushes pruned, plants cut back...now I am looking at the INSIDE. I love the big print over your mantle!
ReplyDeleteLove the color and love the giant fern!! Love the print of the boys..so beautiful! :D
ReplyDeleteOh Betsy it is beautiful....very calm and peaceful....I love it! I can just see the college boys watching the games...and you bringing out delicious dishes from your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the boys is just perfect!
Did you happen to see Nate Berkus show today? Grey is THE color and I thought of your room.
Nanny ~ no, I didn't know gray as the IN color! what a lucky choice! ha...next to navy, it's my favorite color anyway!
ReplyDeleteHappy Frog ~ it was at TJMaxx...the only one there...and the perfect color for my room! I HAD to bring it home with me! ha.
ReplyDeleteLove the gray walls( just like my house!...good taste...he he he)
ReplyDeleteI adore the large photo framed, up too....and that fern is BEAUTIFUL.
xxoo
It's just beautiful. I have three big boys so I can imagine how it looks when they are all crowded around the TV, but you have just the right amount of feminine warmth here! Love it!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Simple and sophisticated. LOVE this and the wall color is fantastic. Also can't believe how big that fern is!
ReplyDeleteFarmchick ~ I do hope I can keep the fern alive over the winter. They hate the dry furnace heat! He made it through last year, but just barely!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks so great. I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, very pretty! and it looks so calm and peaceful empty of males.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with your makeover.
My dad has some huge ferns. His spend the winter in front of a window in his garage. He lives in East Texas and it is warmer there but they do great. They go back to the patio when winter is over.
It is wonderful Betsy...and SO YOU! I love the blow up of the boys...it could be on a wall in your home until you pass on to heaven and always be CHARMING!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely Betsy !
ReplyDeleteLove the colors, so serene and calming...
That picture of the boys is so special, and I must say the Keep Calm and Carry On print, well it fits just perfect in your home :)
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
Perfect. I am so coveting your black leather furniture. So practical and pretty and ideal for the insanity that kids can cause when exposed to furniture that does not wipe off.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn ~ exactly! You would not believe how many upholstered pieces of furniture we went through with 4 boys! Well, maybe you would!? haha. Leather lasts so much longer...just wipe it off with a wet rag. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI think your fern needs it's own room. Give it a boy name and call your blog my six men!
ReplyDeleteThat has become so beuatiful dear Betsy! Thank you for showing us your lovely home, what a tranquil place to be. It has a soothing aura over it.;))
ReplyDeleteLove the tray with candles.;)
xoxo
Oh, I love it too, Betsy!! My living room walls are a similar color and I have really enjoyed them...I too think they change colors throughout the day! I have so many prints that need to be framed as well...maybe your redo will inspire me to get busy!! :)
ReplyDeleteBetsy, very beautiful I love your 'new' living room, and the cozy fireplace ... :-) and the picture with the message to carry on ... I should have something like that in our house :-) ... happy moments in your cozy and wonderful living room :-)

ReplyDeleteUnks!
Hi there! May I say ... your living room looks luscious! Great job. I am now deep in the South and relishing each day of this traveling adventure.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Betsy! I agree with the others...it has a very peaceful and calm feel...exactly what home should be : )
ReplyDeleteI love the cool inviting look of the room now! The photo is great over the mantel and the lit candles pull you into the room and make you want to stay.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing you need is a platform for your 6 foot fern so you can pull it in and out of the room. It has got to be too big for you to haul around.
What a lovely home, Betsy! I love window seats and the colour of the walls is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteReveals are such fun posts to read. Your room is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour room is BEAUTIFUL! Thanks so much for sharing it with us! All of the touches are wonderful. AND I love the picture on the mantle. :)

ReplyDeleteBesty your room looks just gorgeous! So warm & inviting, & I love your mantlescape. Was thinking about you today as I saw an interesting piece on telly about the +ve effect iPads loaded with special software from Austism Australia is having. Adam Scott the young Aussie pro golfer has a Foundation who's main aim is to provide iPad's for 500 autistic kids this year.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
I absolutely lurve it! You have had the year of the make over! Get some rest this holiday season, you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the color of the walls, sometime grey is cold looking, but you have it warm and homey! Love the photo of the kids, it's worth waiting for! Have a great week. I'm going to become your newest follower, so hope you will check out my blog too, and maybe stay while! Sandi
