front porch and this little guy scampered out! I think
I accidentally gave him a shower! He really didn't seem
to mind and even washed his face with the drop hanging
on his chin! Every time I water the flowers he comes out
to say hello! When I talk to him he turns his head and
looks me in the eye! What a sweet little friend! :)
A couple of years ago I saved a Praying Mantis from
a spider web and he became my friend, too! :)
This is so cool :)
ReplyDeletecool friend you got there...we had one that showed up on our car the other day at the gas pump..he crawled onto my hand and showed off for the boys...
ReplyDeleteYou remind me of Dr. Dolittle.
ReplyDeleteFriend to all the animals.
Very cool. They are said to bring good luck to the home!
ReplyDeleteChristine ~ oh, that is so funny! I rather like that title! haha.
ReplyDeleteAmyLK ~ good luck? I'd never heard that before...well, we can use some good luck here! I'm glad he's staying! :)
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice to see your little friend in the first photo. He is quite handsome! How fun that he has decided to stick around and make his home in your flower pot.
ReplyDeleteEver see the movie The Deadly Mantis? Cheesy old horror flick from the '50s.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post because of that memory.
What a dapper gentleman caller!
ReplyDeleteI havent seen one of those in years around here. They are funny looking.
ReplyDeleteI think the bug I heard that brings good luck is the ladybug. My motherinlaw used to say if they were in your house dont kill them, for they bring you good luck.
Happy Tuesday ahead Betsy!
We had a praying mantis named Wally that hung out in our garden and then in our house. He fascinated me too, and I loved the way he turned his head. I haven't seen one in two years...I sort of miss my little friend. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, I had to look hard for awhile on this one. I think he would make a great pet.
ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't love to be your friend, Betsy?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he had been praying for a friend.
what is it with you and praying manti's? Funny. Well i suppose if I was one, your flowers would be great place to nest. So lovely.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the school not coming soon enough with row row your little boat playing for the umpteenth times. Yes, life, your life in particular is hard!!! i sure hope your family nearby chip in lots. Lord knows you need it...even though I know you wouldn't ask!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great friend to have in the garden...they help keep the not so nice pests under control. They have the most beautiful wings when they fly.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen one of these in quite a while...they do remind me of something out of a Roald Dahl movie :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat...very wonderful that you noticed him and he you! ;D
ReplyDeleteWow, he is the perfect green for your garden. Your friends make me think of the James and the Giant Peach story.
ReplyDeleteawww so sweet! I had one jumping on me in the grocery store as I was paying, lol told the salesman I didn't buy this one, that he can keep him, he told me that for some reasons many of these got in to the store ... :-)
ReplyDeleteI had to look really hard to see it.;) How beautiful, they do not exist here.;)
ReplyDeletexo
They are such majestic little creatures.
ReplyDelete"this little fellow" !! It looks enormous. If it had been me, I would have run a mile.
ReplyDeleteHe's a beaut!
ReplyDeleteBirdie ~ Oh, that is hilarious! I wonder if the mama laid a nest in the store. So funny! Sounds like you handled it well, but I bet some were not so happy to have one land on them! ha.
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ haha...thanks...very clever, there. :)
ReplyDeleteit is always so exciting to discover a praying mantis.
ReplyDeletewhen i first met my husband, he had a 'pet' praying mantis living in his apartment - he figured it must have come in when he moved his houseplants indoors - the mantis lived for many months inside dining on bugs found naturally or ones f provided. one day it mysteriously disappeared - we like to think it finally found it's way outside.
That is too cool, Betsy!
ReplyDeletebeautiful pictures.
ReplyDeletei would have jumped at seeing "him." and then i would have laughed at myself! lol
thank you for visiting me and commenting.
most of all, thank you for sharing your world,
smiles,
I love praying mantis (not sure what the plural is). One summer I had one that stayed on my window screen and then came to the front door and then came in when I opened the door. He was very freindly and didn't want to leave. They look so delicate and fragile and are very beautiful creatures.
ReplyDeleteCat ~ that is such a cute story! I can't believe he came in the house like that. They do seem to have so much personality!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet he was your friend....the old spider web....ugh!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good heart Ms Doolittle. or is it Dolittle?
ReplyDeletebig hugs,
Barb
Oh my stars, he is HUGE! Very cool photo!
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid, my parents said it was illegal to kill a praying mantis. I also remember wondering how the police would ever know.
ReplyDeleteMaybe your little friend hears you and recognizes your voice. I think he might appreciate the drinks you give him.
