Spencer is really coming along in saying a few words!
I thought you might like a glimpse into what it's like
to try and work with him like I do. Here's a couple
of minutes of us playing "Name That Body Part"
Yes, there's a lot of background noise...4 other
men, 2 parakeets, chiming clocks, etc. LOL!
It's only quiet when I'm home alone!
Whoa Spencer says teeth, eyes, toe, and eyebrow very well..and you are so calm and good with him through it all. I love that. I did have to chuckle at the central station sounds coming in from the background.
ReplyDeleteHooray for Spencer - he did great!
ReplyDeleteyay spencer! that is awesome betsy! good job working wiht him so patiently and rewarding with praise...you are a great mom!
ReplyDeleteThat put a smile in my heart!
ReplyDeleteOh, watching this just made me happy, happy. Way to go Spencer, you're doing GREAT. I can tell you've been working hard.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Betsy, so fun to hear your voice.
That was amazing. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteMmm ~ yea, did you catch 'mouth' was 'osh'. Pronunciation is the hardest thing. Spencer is sooo much better than his brothers. Harry pronounces terribly and giggles. Alex just smiles and is silent! ha. I'll catch them all here eventually. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are such an amazing lady...they are blessed to have you for their mom! Amazing indeed :D
ReplyDeleteamazing...you both are truly blessed!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to hear both Spencer and you together. Wouldn't it be fun if all of us could have a cup of coffee together some afternoon? You are a great mom and teacher. :-) God bless!
ReplyDeleteAnita ~ I was just talking with someone about a blogger reunion today. Yes, it would be SO fun to actually have a cup of coffee with some of my dearest peeps. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see and hear something good!
ReplyDeleteI found myself trying to help Spencer, especially when he was thinking so hard about the word HAND.
ReplyDeleteBetsy do you work with each of them daily? Whew! Patience is a great quality and you, fine lady, are the best example!
i loved hearing your voice!!! you honestly sound like an angel...so kind...patient...loving. he has captured my heart even more! great job spencer!!!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, the patience and love in your voice is priceless. Your children are blessed to have you. Spencer does so well there.
ReplyDeleteHis demeanor is so calm and sweet. While watching him, I can see glimpses of who he really is inside. That sounds odd, but I hope you understand what I mean. I'm sure they're all distinctly different and individuals. He wants to please so much and he's also understandably pleased with his triumphs. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeletePrecious! I loved watching his face when he was thinking hard. Did he say hush after mouth?
ReplyDeleteBetsy, that was great to see. They are blessed to have you. Spencer did GREAT!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteGetting my brother to talk is kind of like pulling teeth, unless he wants something.
Great job, Spencer! And Mom too.
Christine ~ yes, daily...but not anything formal..we just go with the flow. I make them try to say things all throughout the day..just fit it into the normal routine.
ReplyDeleteMatty ~ that is the sweetest thing to say..thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteKayren ~ it was 'osh' He was trying to say the 'th' on mouth. ha.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that was so touching! You've created an oasis of love in your home.
ReplyDeleteI want to give both of you great big hugs!
ReplyDeleteI loved watching Spencer's face as he tried to retrieve the answers and I loved hearing your kind gentle voice.
ReplyDeleteGod he's beautiful. It must feel like such an accomplishment for him and for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us in on Spencer's accomplishments. It brought tears to my eyes. You and he make a great team, as I am sure Harry, Alex and you do as well. Have the boys learned from one another?
ReplyDeleteTechnically on summer break, but had to tell you how moved I was watching the video. Tell Spencer this woman who lives very far from him thinks he is a Champion!!!!! (you too)
ReplyDeleteThis so just made my morning! Virtual high five, Spencer!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing this glimpse into your relationship with Spencer. He is doing great and you have a wonderfully soothing voice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful interaction with Spencer. Love his facial expressions and to literally "FEEL" the love coming through your video.
ReplyDeleteHow God must smile down on you each day as you love and mother your 5 men.
Corners ~ ah, the teacher in you is showing! There is a delay there...like the circuit in his brain is connecting before the answer comes. I see that a lot...espcially while he thinks of how to pronouce a word.
ReplyDeleteHelen ~ thank you so much...you always make us feel special!
ReplyDeleteWanda ~ I think God uses all of you to encourage me! :) thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! You can almost see him thinking! I love your videos.
ReplyDeleteGood Job Spencer....and Betsy! I love hearing your voice, so sweet and patient. You are an amazing lady.
ReplyDeleteP.R.E.C.I.O.U.S., oh my goodness, absolutely precious.
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved seeing Spencer's expression when he was thinking of the word for hand. And hearing your sweet voice was such a treat too!
Woo hoo, for wonderful and sweet Spencer!! Just awesome!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
It was so interesting to watch you and Spencer work together--and very generous of you to share. What everyone else said about your voice, I echo--you can tell so much about someone from the sound of their voice, and your loveliness comes through the timbre of yours.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Spencer!!! You were fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSpencer did a great job, Betsy! Just great. Thank you for sharing that with all of us out here.
ReplyDeleteLora ~ thank you so much...nice to see you stopping by! :) Enjoyed your post today, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is priceless. What a precious blog you have. Thank you for sharing your sons with us.
ReplyDeleteLove his facial expressions and to literally "FEEL" the love coming through your video."
ReplyDelete--As someone else said above, it is indeed an oasis of love you have created there in your home, you being the champion leading them all forward in tenderness. The lil clip is only a sneak peek into your life but it speaks volumes about it. It is very moving indeed as everyone has noted. thank you for trusting us enough to let us share that moment with you. I too want to give Spencer a big hug, but i am sure he woudl completely freak if some stranger came up to him as such, rightfully so. LOL. Oh dear me.
Mmm ~ aww..thank you for this comment. You know, Spencer would probably hug you right back. All three of the guys are quite non-autistic in their affection and willingness to be touched and hugged. In fact Harry goes overbaord and has to be told to let go of people! ha.

ReplyDeleteMr. Scape ~ thank you. That means a lot coming from you! And what is that cute kissy face?? LOL! I've never seen that before! Thank you...I'll take any kind of encouragement. x.
ReplyDeleteOH! I am so proud of him! I love the scrunched up face...when he is thinking...I am skeptical though...is he annoyed to say the word...cause I think he REALLY does know WHAT it is! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love his hair like that too Betsy...so handsome!
WOW! Both you and Spencer are awesome.
ReplyDeletehe did a great job!
ReplyDeleteBetsy I thought I heard him say MOUTH but then added HUSH....at least that is what it sounded like to me.
ReplyDeleteAre you playing this back to Spencer? If so, what is his reaction?
ReplyDeleteI think this was an amazing idea!
