Spencer Speaking

Spencer is really coming along in saying a few words!
I thought you might like a glimpse into what it's like
to try and work with him like I do. Here's a couple
of minutes of us playing "Name That Body Part"
Yes, there's a lot of background noise...4 other
men, 2 parakeets, chiming clocks, etc. LOL!
It's only quiet when I'm home alone!

  1. Whoa Spencer says teeth, eyes, toe, and eyebrow very well..and you are so calm and good with him through it all. I love that. I did have to chuckle at the central station sounds coming in from the background.

  6. Mmm ~ yea, did you catch 'mouth' was 'osh'. Pronunciation is the hardest thing. Spencer is sooo much better than his brothers. Harry pronounces terribly and giggles. Alex just smiles and is silent! ha. I'll catch them all here eventually. :)

  15. His demeanor is so calm and sweet. While watching him, I can see glimpses of who he really is inside. That sounds odd, but I hope you understand what I mean. I'm sure they're all distinctly different and individuals. He wants to please so much and he's also understandably pleased with his triumphs. Thank you so much for sharing.

Getting my brother to talk is kind of like pulling teeth, unless he wants something.
Great job, Spencer! And Mom too.

  19. Christine ~ yes, daily...but not anything formal..we just go with the flow. I make them try to say things all throughout the day..just fit it into the normal routine.

  26. Thanks for letting us in on Spencer's accomplishments. It brought tears to my eyes. You and he make a great team, as I am sure Harry, Alex and you do as well. Have the boys learned from one another?

  27. Technically on summer break, but had to tell you how moved I was watching the video. Tell Spencer this woman who lives very far from him thinks he is a Champion!!!!! (you too)

How God must smile down on you each day as you love and mother your 5 men.

  31. Corners ~ ah, the teacher in you is showing! There is a delay there...like the circuit in his brain is connecting before the answer comes. I see that a lot...espcially while he thinks of how to pronouce a word.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Helen ~ thank you so much...you always make us feel special!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wanda ~ I think God uses all of you to encourage me! :) thank you!

  38. It was so interesting to watch you and Spencer work together--and very generous of you to share. What everyone else said about your voice, I echo--you can tell so much about someone from the sound of their voice, and your loveliness comes through the timbre of yours.

  39. Awesome Spencer!!! You were fantastic.

  40. Spencer did a great job, Betsy! Just great. Thank you for sharing that with all of us out here.

  43. Love his facial expressions and to literally "FEEL" the love coming through your video."

--As someone else said above, it is indeed an oasis of love you have created there in your home, you being the champion leading them all forward in tenderness. The lil clip is only a sneak peek into your life but it speaks volumes about it. It is very moving indeed as everyone has noted. thank you for trusting us enough to let us share that moment with you. I too want to give Spencer a big hug, but i am sure he woudl completely freak if some stranger came up to him as such, rightfully so. LOL. Oh dear me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mmm ~ aww..thank you for this comment. You know, Spencer would probably hug you right back. All three of the guys are quite non-autistic in their affection and willingness to be touched and hugged. In fact Harry goes overbaord and has to be told to let go of people! ha.
