a sweet fix from a vending machine, my first
choice would be an Almond Joy or Mounds bar.
the 1940's? I love the vintage ads! And can
you believe they were only 10 cents?
They were probably bigger back then, too!
Isn't that they way it usually goes? ha.
Kinda like a Burger King Whopper...remember
when those were so huge you could barely
pick them up? But I digress...
"Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't"?
And look at this cute couple!
I'm glad to see they didn't get their
costumes confused! ;) I'll tell you right
now, The Mister wouldn't be caught dead
in something like this! ha.
*****
I'd have to say that Butterfinger, and Twix
would have to come in as a close 2nd and 3rd
on my favorites list.
*****
So...what's your favorite candy bar?
*****
Visit my other Theme Thursday friends here!
That Mound is as old as me, and it's my all time favorite!!! Yummmy ~~dark chocolate and coconut!!!
ReplyDeleteYep ~ you are my kind of girl, Wanda...it's a winning comination, isn't it? yum!
ReplyDeleteI love them too...my favorite is Baby Ruth's and Snickers! And I could go on and on...just love candy! :D
ReplyDeleteJulie ~ so you're a nougat kind of girl!
ReplyDelete{Drool}
ReplyDeleteI'm with you.. I absolutely love Almond Joy's.
It is the closest chocolate bar I could find over here, that resembled the English 'Bounty' chocolate bar.
Nowadays, I can get the 'Bounty' but prefer the Almond Joy ..lol
Did you know that Almond Joy comes in pieces now? Along with several other candy favorites (so I've heard, no didn't test them.)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're not feeling sorrowful anymore... I'm sending hugs as I think of you... as I bake your chewy pecan cookies! Still number one cookie in my family. :) xoxo
ReplyDeletei am a choclate and PB man all the way...butterfinger and reeses...yum! i might actually wear that suit...lol. happy tt!
ReplyDeleteBP ~ awww, thanks...I can't shake it since last Friday. :(
ReplyDeleteMaybe I need chocolate. ha.
Snickers... the little ones.
ReplyDeleteOoooooooo, Almond Joy is MOST CERTAINLY my favorite candy bar. IN MANY WAYS I am GRATEFUL they are not ten cents any more! I also am happy with a Hershey bar! YUM!
ReplyDeleteIn the early candy-eating days of my childhood, there were several: Rolo, Chunky, Zero, Polar(?), Skybar, Fifth Avenue... and those are just what I can recall with no time to think about them. Almost all of them are still made today. In the 1970s, malted milk balls and Kit-Kat. In the 1980s and 1990s, I leaned toward Hershey's Cookies'n'Creme bars. And now, I try to stay away from all of them, except when otherwise well-meaning bloggers keep reminding me...!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSilver Fox ~ Would you like Zero because it sounds like Zoro?
ReplyDeleteMy Taylor loves Zero and Hershey Cookies N Creams!
Skybar sounds so familiar but I can't place it....must go to Google!
If I had unlimited funds, I'd buy back 90% of the stuff I grew up with. Pathetic, innit?
ReplyDeleteoh no i'm going to bed with the earworm "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't......"
ReplyDeleteHershey's dark chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThere were many amazing adds for sweets and chocolate in the UK, too, when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteI remember that slogan! It is simply the only add slogan I still recall from my time in the US.;)
ReplyDeleteI have a sweet tooth too.;)
xoxo
Of course I ken th' song, heh, heh...Almond Joy is right up there with Snickers, Butterfingers and Marathon bars( tho' I dinna ken they make the Marathon onymair, wot? )
ReplyDeleteMom goes for Milkyways and Rolos( tho' very, very sparingly )...
I do love Almond Joy, but my favorite candy bar is a Snickers. Now if we are talking seriously about candy here, I love Bridge Mix. I once bought a bag of it at the store when I was running errands. Slowly, one wonderful piece at a time, I consumed the whole bag, all 12.5 servings of it. I love candy.
ReplyDeleteLove Almond Joy and Butterfinger, too, but I usually pick up the Snickers everytime.
ReplyDeleteme too! ...the vintage posters made me smile..a dime!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! This was great! You know, The Mister in the Mounds costume sort of looks like he'd RATHER be dead! LOL. My very favorite candy bar is Butterfinger, and I also love Butterfinger Blizzards at the DQ down the street! Now I want one. But it's only 9 a.m.
ReplyDeleteSubby ~ Marathon! Yes, I like anything with caramel. Haven't seen those in years!
ReplyDeleteAnita ~ haha...I've done that before...you don't even realize what you've done until you reach the bottom of the bag! yikes!
ReplyDeleteCute, Cute!!! love the old pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to choose Butterfinger....oh my.....
Oh, I'm a Heath Bar kinda girl. Love that toffee...Snickers is a very close second though.
ReplyDeleteI lurve the vintage ads too! - by the way, absolutely love the moon cookies, just beautiful for a baby theme - My favorite candy bar is the Toblerone! Siiiigh, makes me dreamy just thinking about it. ha ha
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any of those over here. My favourite - probably a Crunchie Bar (and I bet they don't have any of those over there)
ReplyDeleteI really like Almond Joy. When I was pregnant with my second child, craved them all the time! Maybe that's why he's such a nut!
ReplyDeletethese are super sweet.
ReplyDeletePattiKen ~ I've often wondered about the truth to that. I craved icecream and Mexican food while pregnant with my first...and he LOVES both of those to this day. ha. And he has my sweet tooth!
ReplyDeleteAlmond Joy and Mounds! Oh,yes...I am totally with you.
ReplyDeleteused to love crunch bars, and milky ways...but i try to stick to dark chocolate these days....coconut--yuck!
ReplyDeleteTom ~ No coconut? Oh good...more for me! ha. I'm with you on the dark chocolate, though!
ReplyDeleteI do remember the slogan for these two. I like Almond Joy. I do not like Mound.
ReplyDeleteDo I have a favorite? I guess if I had to pick one I'd just go with a straight Hershey's chocolate bar, but I like Snickers, Almond Joy, Kit Kat, Twix, Baby Ruth, Heath, Reese's PB Cup, Hershey's bar with almond, Mr. Goodbar, Butterfinger, Rolos, Take Five. Three Musketeers and Milky Ways are back-ups.
Sad, isn't it.
Your candy couple remind me of a costume I made on Halloween. I went as ExLax. Yup. Painted the box ExLax blue and did the logo just right and went to a party. It was hilarious. I was probably 18 or 19 at the most.
ReplyDeleteSnickers and butterfingers! Yikes...can't think about, I'll want some! Fun post!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Baby Ruth. Haven't had one in year. These days I usually grab a peanut butter cup if I'm grabbing some thing. Truth be told, the chocolate on the Baby Ruth crumbles off when I bite into it, leaving a spot on my shirt and giving me away. :)
ReplyDeleteI like Wanda's (she's the first commenter), I like her mom's homemade English Toffee best. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big dark chocolate fan (Ghirardelli for choice; I use their pure, unsweetened powder to make hot chocolate), but my candy bar favorite is Snickers; there's just a little bit of saltiness in them that enhances the flavor.
ReplyDeleteTracey ~ that is SO true about the chocolate on a Baby Ruth! It's annoying!
ReplyDeleteWhen I taught kindergarten I used to bribe my kiddos to bring me all their Almond Joys after trick or treating. Sneaky but they loved to do it ...
ReplyDeleteCorners ~ oh, that is so cute! LOL! Most kids don't seem to care for them either, so I'm sure they loved to give them up! I always got them from my boys halloween baskets, too! ha.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this. At the Monkey House, we recently had the Mounds versus Almond Joy discussion with my 15 year old when we found out he had never had either. Can you imagine? 15? And never had either. We imediately went to the local market and the verdict - Almond Joy. He's a chip off the old block. My TT is HERE .
ReplyDeleteMy fave is a Snickers. I love anything with nuts in it.
ReplyDeleteI love Almond Joy. I had a shake from Cheeburger Cheeburger the other day made from it. I am also crazy for Reese's cups.
ReplyDeleteMartha ~ you've had Wanda's homemade toffee? No fair! :)
ReplyDeleteRoy ~ I want your hot chocolate recipe!
ReplyDeleteShe put the recipe on her blog a few years ago. We made it ourselves. If you're lucky maybe she'll give you the recipe. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha...I'll ask her or search her blog! :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure I have a favorite candy bar. Snickers fills me up, Dove has a decent bar.
ReplyDeleteHmm... that's a good question. I'll get back to you.
Look here- http://brushstrokesfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2007/12/merry-christmas-recipe-english-toffee.html
ReplyDeleteHaha I"m sorry but I have a HUGE problem eating a chocolate bar called "Mounds". . . I think they're what we call Bounty Bars which isn't much better but they are delish. Almond Joy? Hmmm sounds like an Asian adventure . . .then we have an ice cream called a Golden Gaytime . .go figure.
ReplyDeleteMY favorite is Dark Dove Chocolate with almonds. I always feel like a nut. Happy TT
ReplyDeleteAre you quite sure the mister wouldn't wear something like this? I don;t know--it has stripes and all. Might be right up his alley perhaps? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteI don't terribly like coconut unless it's on curry to cool down the spice.
Now, were shoppers big to us because we were kids or what?
Shoppers? Eh? LOL!!! Hee. It must have been reading about Buddha bellies.
