Like a Hot Knife Through Butter

I sharpened my knives today!
This chef's knife now cuts through a watermelon
like it was warm butter. Oh my!
Now I'm a little scared of it!
In all seriousness, it was a long overdue chore
and so nice to have done. And I still
have all of my fingers! :)

  6. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Experience superior sharpness and edge retention, especially over time, as the CeramiChef blade will stay sharp ten times longer than a steel blade. The hardness of the blade means it will not bend, it will therefore cut exactly where you guide it - slicing in straight lines has never been easier.

  7. So glad to hear all of your fingers are still intact! It wouldn't have been such a pretty picture otherwise (ha)!!

I never remember to sharpen our knives, thanks for the reminder!

  8. The sharper they are, the less it hurts when you cut yourself. Just saying. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.

  9. I was forever forgetting to sharpen my knives, so a couple of years ago I gave up and decided to get them professionally sharpened once a year or so. The place I use is cheap and in a neighborhood that's worth a field trip.

I usually end up cutting myself with the newly-sharpened blade, but this year all I did was cut off part of a fingernail. Yeah for me!

  11. I am forever knicking myself when I chop...if I had sharp knives, I probably wouldn't have any fingers left ;)

  12. Every time we sharpen the knives, I forget and cut myself. But they work so much better when they're sharp. Enjoyed reading about your shopping adventures. Looking forward to reading more as the summer progresses!

  14. Yummy! Watermelon. I've been snacking on watermelon all week. So sweet and delicious.

My knives still cut pretty good. I remember when I first got them...I nearly lost a couple of fingertips.

  15. Come to think of it, it's safer to cut food with a SHARP knife than and DULL one...
    Yummy picture!

  16. We have one Cutco knife that I am afraid of...it has the ability to leap off the counter and attack bare toes. It did not come with a warning label from the manufacturer. Glad you have all your fingers AND toes!

  19. Here's to keeping your fingers!
(I have heard a dull knife is actually more dangerous, but I'm not sure I believe that.)

    The watermelon looks yummy!

  21. Heather ~ I'm liking them sharp now! I just have to be careful and pay attention to what I'm doing. But they are a pleasure to use when they are sharp like this!

  24. Oh, I couldn't be trusted with a knife as sharp as that !
I can only handle dull knives, and use lots of pressure, on the other hand ( pun intended) husband insists on sharp knives, and that's why I've got all my fingers:)

  25. Brit in TN ~ Oh Jo, you are funny! I'd much rather have sharp knives. How do you slice a tomato without loosing all the juice? LOL!

  26. It always amazes me how sharp my knives CAN be after I sharpen them. I don't know why they have to get totally dull before I think to get out the sharpener! They ARE a little scary when they are freshly sharpened! LOL! In a good way.

  27. I saw someone the other day who had only half a foot, nothing from the arch to his toes. he had cut them off by mistake. Horrible. Glad you didn't cut off any digits.
