Kale

Who knew rabbit food could be so beautiful?!
♥♥♥♥♥
Kitchen hint~ I trim the ends of the kale and sit it in
a bowl with a few inches of water in it...just like you
would do with fresh flowers. Any wilty bits spring
back to life and become crispy again. I do this
with asparagus, or any lettuces...and fresh
herbs. If I have room, I put the whole bowl
into the refrigerator.

  4. Yes, try it! It's really tasty I think. Being such dark green it makes you feel as though you're eating something very good for you.

  10. I have worked some helping a local caterer - she uses the kale with purple ends and streaks to decorate her platters. I started noticing in more and more recipes - this southern gal has yet to step across the line from eye candy to tickling the taste buds :) Soon, though, I am going to try it soon!

  11. What a clever idea, and the Kale looks so fresh and green.

My fat flush diet plan calls for Kale three times a week, so far I haven't added it to the menu, but I do other "dark" green veggies.

I keep lettuce in a plastic container with wet paper towels and it stay crisp for a long time.

    Love your kitchen tips.

  20. thats such a handy tip

    I love kale
and my other 2 like it if its stir fried - its good with some seeds (sunflower, pumpkin) or bits of nuts added.

oh and nice with a teensy bit of balsamic vinegar...

  21. I like this stuff almost as much as I like spring dandelion leaves -- gather before they bloom though or they will be bitter.

  24. I had my fill of kale when I worked at a Skipper's fast food restaurant sruing college. We used kale to spruce of the salad bar. I usually worked a morning shift or closing shift so I spent a lot of time dressing and undressing the salad bar!

  31. I have a new love of kale. I have been green smoothing it for the last couple of weeks and it is a main ingredient. I have a recipe for a yummy kale and avocado salad. I do this with my basil and other herbs...keeps them fresh.
