Hey Betsy, ...sometimes I have books open... I don't have a mantel... or they might end up there. But...My family puts "things" on top of the piano. I would say...it time for the pine cone to go bye, bye ;-) Love you, Nancy
Sorry this is a bit off the subject, Betsy, but I really LOVE your banner photo of the peony. I feel inspired to photograph one in our garden ... a lovely dark red one.
You are so hilarious!!! I'm so glad you thought to photograph this and share it with us! You make me SMILE!! Love the new header, as well! Have a terrific week! ~Janine XO
Justin ~ thank you! I just took that today as the peonies are at their peak here. Have to hurry and you never know when a rain will pummel them into the ground! ha. I bet your dark ones are beautiful!
Oh, I had to hold my breath when I saw that clock on the pine cone ;) Bless him, he felt the need, and followed his instincts. What a calm and tolerant mum you must be, I would panicked. We have the same 'old man by the fireplace' print, one of my absolute favorite pieces of Wintertime decorating.
Maybe the clock represents a train on the pine cone track!
ReplyDeleteOh I am chuckling here! Spencer must like those trains on the mantel and yes, on those pages lined up! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all have these moments, where we stand back, chuckle and think, "This is not what I thought my life would be."?
ReplyDeleteTracey ~ oh yes,...every single day! ha!
ReplyDeleteha ha What a hoot! I lurve your old time painting too, right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteHe has a nice sense of balance and organization. :-) He must be creative like you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckle tonight... I guess Spencer was trying not to disrupt the mantle TOO much!
ReplyDeletei kinda like teh clock on teh pine cone...smiles.
ReplyDeleteGood thing you have a nice wide mantel to service Spencer!
ReplyDeleteNow the pine cone holding up the clock...that's funny!
Spencer has a thing or two in common with my husband. Leaving things out for me to see and his very own style.
ReplyDeleteVery eclectic...
Christine ~ that's such a nice way of putting it! haha.

Thats cute and funny...a new thought and look in decorating! It takes talent to get your trains all lined up like that! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your life.
ReplyDeleteSome days I smile, sometimes it's a sigh... even a tear but today a laugh out loud.
Aw, you've got to smile. And you know, now I live on my own, somedays I'd love for someone around to clutter things up their own way!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think he is an artist at heart.;)

I agree with Brian...I like the clock on the pine cone. Tres avant garde! : )
ReplyDeleteKayren ~ it's been the kitchen island before...as I've posted here on my blog...at least I can cook this new way! :)
ReplyDeleteI love his creativity!!
ReplyDeleteyou and your boy-stories always make me smile. I also the clock or the pine cone has to move.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...I can tolerate stuff like that for only a day or two!
ReplyDeleteSpencer NEEDS to see JUST the RIGHT train photo in each book AT THE SAME TIME! Will he come home from school and head STRAIGHT there to look?
LOL!! He is certainly trying to send Mom, the decorator, a message loud and clear:)...
ReplyDeleteLove how he has the clock resting on top of the pine cone. tee hee...
Jill ~ Fortunately Spencer felt he needed those books lined up in the bedroom before he could sleep, so they are already gone. :)

Brit in TN ~ you have the same print, Jo? Really! I've never seen another one. It was in my childhood home when I grew up. :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love the pine cone clock stand, although it could be rather dangerous (for the clock). Maybe a less expensive clock would do? ;-)
ReplyDeleteActually, there's an artful kind of surrealism to this arrangement that I really like . . .
ReplyDeleteLove his style!
ReplyDeleteI used to have the same picture! It was in my living room for years and later hung on the den wall. I loved it.
I so chuckled when I saw that clock and had to let out a big awww too. :)
