Florida on Easter Sunday. I love things like this...silently
floating in the air and looking down at the world below.
These were just little buckets that could hold 4 people max.
They actually reminded me of these fancy skyrides...
Cinderella's carriage! LOL! And those of you that
are scared of heights might feel a bit more safe
being completely enclosed in this one.
This photo is from google images and was simply
titled "Matterhorn, 1959" Anyone want to join me
in a ride through The Alps?

You are a brave soul. I would be a little petrified riding in one of those!

Looks like fun to me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun ride. We take the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain when we visit Lake Tahoe.
ReplyDeleteLove the Google picture too!
I don't have much of a head for heights, but the Cinderella's carriage looks promising.
ReplyDeletenice. i would take that ride.
ReplyDeletehope you hav a wonderful weekend betsy!
I love rides like that. The view is just stunning from above!
ReplyDeleteMartin ~ the matterhorn one does look a little more sturdy...and has glass windows. The little bucket I rode in kinda swayed in the breeze! ha.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, but I am always a little nervous in things like this. I'm OK on the ground and OK up in a plane (which is too high up to be real) but looking down from these things makes me nervous.
ReplyDeleteAlan ~ I'm surprised how many people feel that way! Maybe I'm the odd one! :) Come to think of it, the line to get on this thing wasn't very long! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat does look like fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd a little daring.
No no no--you would be riding solo, no way this side of heaven to tempt me into such things. Strange that I loved rollercoasters as a teen, but fear all sorts of heights. Neat photos and it does resemble Cinderella's coach!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the Matterhorn in person and you couldn't pay me to get in that contraption!
ReplyDeleteI used to like the ones at Centre Island in Toronto, but they were very tame by comparison.
Nice photos, Betsy!

P.S. Hope you all had a Happy Easter!
Love the look in the Matterhorn pic - so fifties! Your black and white at Busch Gardens made me think it was a vintage photograph. I'd take a ride, sure, why not - but you'll never get me in an airplane! Your other post caught my eye - the sparkling waters of the Gulf and Tampa Bay - my son went to UTampa for four years so we got to know the area. The Gulf coast is amazing, I am always surprised at the lack of hills, and all those bridges and causeways!!! Nothing like "home", right?
ReplyDeleteIm with you on the gondola or chair lift. For me, this ride has always been the best part of skiing...the silent soaring above the trees. Don't you wish there was a chair lift you could ride all across the country.
ReplyDeleteWow...a real blast from the past! Your header is just stunning! I love it!
ReplyDeleteMcHargue ~ well you and I are certainly are in the minority! Yes, I'd travel across the country like that...absolutely. How fun! ha.
ReplyDeleteSundance ~ the Tampa area was just amazing. I can see why people fall in love with it and stay forever!
ReplyDeleteI'm not all that happy with heights--think I'll pass on the Matterhorn!--the Busch Gardens picture is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun, but I think I prefer the glassed in one. It's also much prettier.
ReplyDeleteI'd happily join you in a ride through the Alps! I'll add that to my bucket list ... What a lovely way to spend an Easter Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI love those rides, and wish they were longer. The views are great.
ReplyDeletelook at your cute face....
ReplyDeletei used to love riding the one in Disneyland as a kid....loved it
thanks for posting this..
so FUN
sending love, my friend

Matty ~ I agree...it's too short! I bet the alps one would be nice and long! :)
ReplyDeleteI will skip the ride through the air! I'll stick with driving!
ReplyDeleteretro vintage cable car! wow
ReplyDeleteI agree with you except that movie where the cable car got stuck sort of turned me off.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... methinks you actually might be thinking of relocating to Florida someday. Well, from someone who lived there from 1987-2008, I can highly recommend it, especially around the Gainesville area. You're only an hour away from either the Atlantic Ocean, or the Gulf Of Mexico. Glad you enjoyed your trip.
ReplyDeleteI am actually a bit freaked out by those rides, but will jump on a rollercoaster in a heartbeat! Go figure?
ReplyDeleteOtin ~ I'm the opposite. Haven't been on a roller coaster since college. Can't say that I'm missing them! ha.
ReplyDeleteArgghhhh! I feel Dizzy!!!!!:)
ReplyDeleteI think I would rather just look up and wave at you while you were riding it. I have taken some of these rides, the Disneyland ride, the Palm Springs Tram, and a couple of others when I was younger, but now they would have to tranq me. My fear of heights has gotten worse as I have gotten older.
ReplyDeleteVery cool pics though.
God bless.
I love these rides too, especially as we go snow skiing! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a space ball. What were they thinking when the created that. It is all a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm there with you!!! Oh what a delight it would be to ride through the Alps in a bucket!! Love your photo! A wonderful and fun shot...and perfect in sepia! ~Janine XO
ReplyDeleteLove to join you there in fact but NO WAY would I go on any gondoal like that, even if enclosed. I actually have a hilarious story about that I should blog on sometime-my mother and an adventure ala James bond. Unbelievable and funny too. Hee.
ReplyDeleteI like this woman tweed long skirt--those were the days.Such style.
I like the "face lift" of your blog. Looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteI'll go for a ride!
Hi Betsy, Just checking in to say HI and see how your Florida trip went. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Hope you got a TAN--but not a BURN...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
