~~Bloom where you're planted~~
♥♥♥
"The miracle, or the power, that elevates the few
is to be found in their industry, application,
and perseverance under the prompting
of a brave, determined spirit."
Mark Twain 1835-1910, American Humorist, Writer
♥♥♥
If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying, ''Here comes number seventy-one!''
Richard M. DeVos 1926-, American Businessman, Co-founder of Amway Corp
I had heard those words before.
ReplyDeleteYears ago I tried my hand at Amway, but was not a good "closer". However, I learned the best people skills from my time with them, that helped in my work, and my church, and my family.
Love that little flower pushing its way up through the cement and brick.
bloom where you are planted...i needed that...thank you.
ReplyDeleteI loved the pink little flower pushing it's way through, as we all try to do, sometimes we all struggle, just push your way through...Thanks for the great little picture...Phyllis
ReplyDeleteLove those little pink flowers. Great words too!
ReplyDeleteHi! Betsy,

Cute Betsy!I always love your blogs, its always an enjoyable visit.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Hey, that makes me extremely successful then! :)
ReplyDeleteLet the roots grow where you are and become strong. Good advice.
ReplyDeletewhen my husband was a salesman for a company, a friend told him, "make one more sales call when you'd normally quit for the day. just one more." it worked. he was top corporate salesman most of the time...and many times it was from that one more sales call.
ReplyDeletegreat post.
I have a little sign that has the 'bloom where you're planted' on it. I bought it years ago when the message spoke to me. Now it hangs on our patio trellace. I almost did my "sign" post for tomorrow on this sign, but changed my mind. We must be thinking alike : )
ReplyDeleteThe pink flower is a perfect example of blooming where you are planted. Love the quotes!!! And, love your header photo! If that doesn't say Easter, I don't know what would. =)
ReplyDeleteYES! Wise words indeed!
ReplyDeleteI saw ALL your daffodils in bloom yesterday! I almost picked one they are SOOOOO pretty!
This is just what I needed today. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture Betsy. I have mixed thoughts about persistence ... I suspect at times it can be over-rated. Sometimes it is better to simply change course rather than continue to push against an object in the hope that it might collapse.
ReplyDeleteAlan ~ I see your point...I guess it can be seen as stubborness in some ways. Maybe it's the motive....or maybe it's the wisdom to know when to change directions.
ReplyDeleteLove your header....so pretty...and I love the quote...wish I had a sign with that on it...will have to search for one!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post (yesterday's brought tears to my eyes too).
On my side bar I have those words...
bloom where you are planted....
I think if you can be happy where you are, whatever the circumstances, you'll be o.k.
big hugs,
Barb
Barb ~ yes, I agree! You can waste away opportunities while wishing to be in different circumstances.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Betsy... Perseverance is very important for all of us --as we plod through life. Another word to live by is COMMUNICATION... Another one is ATTITUDE.... I could go on and on....
ReplyDeleteIf you want to read my story (meeting George and getting married after being divorced and single for about 20 yrs)---check my sidebar and look for the LABEL which says "MY STORY"....
Hugs,
Betsy
Jen ~ I always post something that I need myself...if it speaks to someone else, then that's great, too! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great combination of quote and photo!
ReplyDeleteMy school motto was "Persevere, there is no failure except in ceasing to try." (See, I still remember it after all these years!) But when I see nature pushing up like this little flower, I always think "Resurrection Power" - God's amazing Spirit of Life, available to you and me too. Wow!
ReplyDeleteJennyfreckles ~ and your words are perfect for Easter, too! :)
ReplyDeleteMark Twain and George Carlin had a lot in common. Very wise words mixed with a touch of humor.
