Remember the little guy I showed you last week
in the Model A Ford? The Mister's oldest brother?
Well, here he is about 4 years later (1950?)
He's in the middle, wearing the white shirt.
The writing on the back of the picture says,
"A little boy at Connellsville
Airport had this jeep with an electric
motor attached and gave the kiddies a
ride around the runway."
Wow...it would be a little hard to go home
to your peddle car after that, wouldn't it? LOL!

Cute little guys : ) That must have been so exciting for them! I like the boy on the hood of the jeep. It looks like he's trying to talk into a radio. Maybe they were pretending to be flight controllers : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot! It looks as if there may be some dispute over who's turn it is at the wheel!
ReplyDeleteKat
How cute! You have some great photos!
ReplyDeleteI did notice the wiring at the bottom and wondered, but you answered my question ere I could ask! Cool shot :)
ReplyDeleteYes, in the fifties anything motorized would have been a real luxury. My brother repaired lawnmowers at a gas station and brought home an old used go cart and we were in heaven. It is a neat photo with everyone piled on to the car.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy
ReplyDeletethanks for the nice comment you sent - yes, I've just been busy doing stuff - and I finally updated my blog today.
I have not been to your blog in a few weeks and am having so much fun reading your posts,
I think my DH and I had the very same conversation about snoring
and your good, bad and ugly posts are just about the funniest thing on the web.
Thank you!
Neat sepia picture, Betsy... We have snow here in TN today---lots of it!!! Since I'm a southern gal, I LOVE it. We don't get much snow here---so this is NICE.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
Great photo, what a find! Looks like it was maybe taken by a newspaper photographer.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I bet that's a memory that lingered in the heads of all those boys.
Cute boys. In some way looking at the picture, it makes me feel like the past and the present are connected. Except for the obvious fact that this is an old photograph, these boys could have been the boys of today.;)

Kind of an old timey Power Wheels toy, huh?! My boys would be all over it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture. I am sure there were a few arguments about whose turn was next.
ReplyDeleteFour years later, he still looks very much at ease in a car, no matter what the scale!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what conversation those boys were having? What a cute picture.
ReplyDeleteDarling.
ReplyDeleteI was also intrigued by the airplanes in the background.
ReplyDeleteLD ~ I was thinking the same thing....this would have been a real unusual treat! I bet you and your brother had a blast rigging up that go cart!
ReplyDeleteMartin ~ how very observant of you....all the men in that family have a thing for cars....and it goes back a few generations, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI love these pics of wee guys and their cars. I was always so envious of the neighbor boys' little metal peddle car. Wonder why the one boys is holding his nose?
ReplyDeleteI bet those fellas were having the time of their lives in a motor driven car! The photos remind me of some of my ex.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about you last evening ... my middle nephew and his wife are having their 3-year old daughter evaluated for autism ... I have been concerned about her for some time now and am so relieved they are ready.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE the shot. Adore! Makes me want to pick the photo up and kiss each forehead! hee :)
ReplyDeleteNo wonder your husband is fascianted with cars!
ReplyDeletewonderful picture!
ReplyDeleteI love this, it's absolutely adorable. What I wouldn't have done for that jeep when I was little!
ReplyDeletegreat picture
ReplyDeleteah, what a gift to have photos with commentary! sweet assemblage of sweet little fellows!
ReplyDeletethats a lovely little moment of time captured
ReplyDeleteone of my brothers had an old pick-up truck rider similar to this. but you had to do that funky push pedal thing, not round and round pedaling. it brings back a lot of memories!
ReplyDeletewonderful pic and post. i had a pedal batmobile when i was aa tyke.
ReplyDeleteHelen ~ Hope all goes well with your nephew and his daughter. xo
ReplyDeleteLittle boys and pedals cars...and motorized cars!! What a great pit crew! Golly jeepers...no wonder there was a women's movement in th 60's ... we did not get our fair share on the sidewalks or anywhere else. All I wanted was a tractor...didn't get one!
