Sepia Saturday = Harry and Geneva Brock

This is The Mister's paternal grandparents,
Harry and Geneva Brock. Last Saturday
I posted on their son, Bill, my father-in-law.
This picture is from their wedding day
in 1924. I remember attending their
60th wedding anniversary when
we had been married about one year.
And our second son, Harry, is named
after his great grandfather. :)
Don't you love Geneva's 20's outfit?
The hairstyle and bands... and that fur trim
on her dress....so chic!

  8. That is a great picture, taken in an age when young women really looked feminine.

I don't know about America, but in our town the young girls all seem to be overweight, dress in baggy jeans and filthy sweat shirts, drink and smoke to excess, lank greasy hair and swear a lot.

It is refreshing to see your Granma in that nice dress and hat. Why can't girls be like that now?

  9. Wonderful picture. I could look at it for ages and invent a whole history about the two of them. Old pictures are such wonderful things aren't they?

  10. This is a good one, Betsy. Some of the older styles are tryin' to make a come-back. The '20's thru' 50's I always thought was the best, style-wise :)

  24. I watched Harold Lloyd's silent comedy, "The Freshman" recently and it was so good and had a real sweetness to it. That's what you photo reminded me of—that innocence that we have somehow lost.

  30. What a great photo! Wow, that's nifty headgear that Geneva has on. They got married the same year my maternal grandparents did, though sadly they only made it two their 42nd year when Grandpa Polley died suddenly the day after Christmas.
