Harry and Geneva Brock. Last Saturday
I posted on their son, Bill, my father-in-law.
This picture is from their wedding day
in 1924. I remember attending their
60th wedding anniversary when
we had been married about one year.
And our second son, Harry, is named
after his great grandfather. :)
Don't you love Geneva's 20's outfit?
The hairstyle and bands... and that fur trim
on her dress....so chic!

Another great photo! Isn't it interesting how womens fashions change so much and mens are much more stable?
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit and beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteMari ~ you are right...look at him...he looks like it's a current picture!
ReplyDeleteThis pic reminds me a bit of you and your Mister.
ReplyDeleteThey are a very stylish couple. Her outfit IS great and I love her hat!
ReplyDeleteThis photograph is really lovely. The double strand of pearls really completed her look:)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Betsy. Harry and Geneva look ready to take the town by storm. Geneva's outfit is something else!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great picture, taken in an age when young women really looked feminine.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about America, but in our town the young girls all seem to be overweight, dress in baggy jeans and filthy sweat shirts, drink and smoke to excess, lank greasy hair and swear a lot.
It is refreshing to see your Granma in that nice dress and hat. Why can't girls be like that now?
Wonderful picture. I could look at it for ages and invent a whole history about the two of them. Old pictures are such wonderful things aren't they?
ReplyDeleteisn't she sweet!
ReplyDeleteoh, how chic...like the style...
ReplyDeleteThis is a good one, Betsy. Some of the older styles are tryin' to make a come-back. The '20's thru' 50's I always thought was the best, style-wise :)
ReplyDeleteA Stylish Couple! They Look A Strong Couple.
ReplyDeleteGeneva has a little bit of a Drew Barrymore look. I love these old pics that you and Willow find!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the sepia photographs.
ReplyDeleteLove it more that YOUR Harry has his name...it is SO VERY special.
Wow, this is a stunning picture! She is beautiful, looking like a movie star.;)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Saturday Betsy,
xo

ReplyDeleteOH ... I love everything about her chic look and it's back again, of course! Enjoy your men and the weekend.
ReplyDeleteKeith ~ i completely agree...I prefer the feminine look, too.
ReplyDeleteOtin ~ yes, I see the Barrymore resemblance now that you mention it!
ReplyDeletewow, I am crazy for her outfit. And the marcel waves in her hair!!! Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt is an interesting look she has there. It is a good photo of them both. They lived long lives if they made it to their 60th.
ReplyDeleteI JUST LOVE THEM...I TOO HAVE LOTS OF ORIGINAL PHOTO'S OF MY ANCESTORS GIVEN TO ME BY MY MOM...LOVE THEM! COME SAY HI :D
ReplyDeleteJulie ~ you should consider joining in! We would all love to see your old pics!
ReplyDeleteI watched Harold Lloyd's silent comedy, "The Freshman" recently and it was so good and had a real sweetness to it. That's what you photo reminded me of—that innocence that we have somehow lost.
ReplyDeleteOoh....1920's fashion..Bet you can't guess what I think about that? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy. It's great getting a glimpse into your family's geneaology.
what a dashing couple! I just love the clothes of the 1920s! I'm going to have go back to your previous sepia saturday posts and get to know some of the other ancestors!
ReplyDeletegreat fun!
Yes, love her outfit adn this pic, but then again I love so much form the 20's--the women just got to be more feminine then I think. Lucky for Mr. Brock with his Geneva!
ReplyDeleteHarry is quite the looker. Wonder if he was a handful. . .
ReplyDeleteShe is simply gorgeous!!! Love the 20s...My grandmother was a flapper...and grandpa played piano in a jazz band...so you can well imagine how much I LOVE this!!!! These are such fun!!! I'm so glad you are participating in this...Your posts are fantastic...love the stories, the photos...EVERYTHING! ~Janine XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! Wow, that's nifty headgear that Geneva has on. They got married the same year my maternal grandparents did, though sadly they only made it two their 42nd year when Grandpa Polley died suddenly the day after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful picture!I love seeing old pictures like that. You all doing that around,it's pretty cool.Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a chariming photo. She looks so young. I would love to know what a wedding and reception was like back then. A bit different than our modern ones I am sure.
