Swindler The Auto Mechanic

I've driven by this sign for 30 years. I laugh every
single time! I decided I must take a picture. Blogging does
that to you, doesn't it? You take your camera with you
and photograph strange things to post! haha.
Swindler just doesn't seem like
a good name for a business!
Swindler ~
1. to cheat (a person, business, etc.) out of money or other assets.
2. to obtain by fraud or deceit.
But he must be doing well...I mean he's been in business all
these years! I do think the little arrow attached at the bottom
is kinda cute! LOL!

  1. Too funny! The professor once saw a car dealership called Crappe Motors.

  2. HAHA...now, I think that is worse. If you last name doesn't fit the business, why use it? Too funny! Lemon wouldn't be a good name, either.

  3. Jen ~ oh dear, that is so funny! Yes, what was he thinking...being in that county and all!? That name Ben Dover is one of those funny ficticious names we would put on an attendance signature list for the substitute teachers in school. And his wife, Ilene. :)

  5. LOL!! This is so funny...

That is so true about taking along your camera to capture something to post. This blogging addiction of ours is quite amazing, and oh so much fun.

    Have fun decorating at church...

  6. Yes, that was great! It is one of those signs you stumble upon on those pages that list funny sign, but never seem to see yourself. I saw something similar for a solicitor on the net.;)

  7. Your post and the comments sound like something on Jay Leno. I have two:

A veterinarian nearby has his name outside...William Kill, DVM

A muffler shop with a marquee: No need to make an appointment. We hear you coming.

    xoxo

  10. This cracked me up!! :D I'll bet the funniness of it is what draws people to his service. It's obviously working for him after 30 years. Nice that you get to have a laugh when you pass it...and even better that you shared it with us. Was such fun at the tea party over at Toast's. I'm still a bit groggy!
    Cheers!

  17. I bet he gets a lot of business from that name !
Oftentimes it's the humor in things that draw attention....you remembered also, so maybe they think at least he's upfront, and probably wouldn't be bold enough to swindle people.
    So funny !
Enjoyed our time together at Mr. T's last night...your a hoot !

  18. I love it.

I keep trying to get a photo of this old bulldog that sits in a ratty arm chair outside a house in my area. He's never there when I have my camera.

  19. ha ha That is funny B! It reminds me of a sign that someone posted on a blog about a year or so ago and I've tried several times to find it again... it was a yellow/black handpainted sign that said ~Advice .5 cents~ I just lurved it because it reminds me of Lucy, from Snoopy, just waiting to give the advice. ha ha

  24. What a classic sign! I wonder if they've ever considered changing their name.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You definitely have hit my funny bone.

  26. BPG ~ you know, hundreds of years ago when they named people for who they were...miller, smith, etc...swindler must have been given to an unseemly character. I think the next generation should have chosen a new one! ha!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Carolyn ~ keep trying to get a pic of that bulldog...sounds hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm so glad you shared that. It's hilarious!

When Hubby and I were in college (accounting majors), we always joked around that we would someday open up an office and name it Double Cross Accounting. There would be two of us, and the other one is our last name...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, I would muc rather be robbed in plain view upfront than kept in the dark! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Kayren ~ that's cute! Do your twins every get called Double Cross? ha!

  32. Betsy, I hopped over from the Lady of Wellington. You blog caught my eye because of the beautiful picture and then I read you blog description. I have one autistic son who in 3. To multiply that and turn it in to a teenager... oh my. God bless you.

Having said that, in my home town there is a car wash, the sign for which touts a Super Polish. I always wonder what makes this particular Polish car washer so super.
