Snowflake Jewelry

Well, I seem to be a little obsessed this
season with Wilson Bentley (1865-1931)
the American farmer and snow crystal photomicrographer.
I did a post on him earlier this month and showcased
several of his beautiful photographs. You can also
see some on my sidebar. Gladys happened
to comment on that post that Harry Winston had
created some jewelry inspired by snowflakes. So,
I had to check them out! Here's one of my favorites!
Although not as expensive or fancy, I do have
two tiny snowflake pins of my own! They are
quite old, but still fun to wear on my sweater!
We've had our first two snowfalls so far this
season! Maybe we'll have a white Christmas!

  2. Betsy,
Grandma Hanna would have loved these. She enjoyed wearing jewelry as these. Thanks for the birthday wishes...I'm getting ready to eat pizza.

  4. Bach ~ I have a little heart-shaped rhinestone pin that was a gift to Grandma from me way back when. When she died, I guess everyone looked for it to pin on her dress she was to be buried in, but couldn't find it anywhere. When her closet was cleaned out, it was found on a dress and given to me. Yes, she would have loved these snowflakes, too! Bittersweet memories! Sigh.

  16. That is a classic example of why I think Nature does a superior job in decorating and/or designing.

I mean, think about a square snowflake and tell me the one on your lawn would look good in square. LOL

We seem to have a kind of itch to change the pine tree into a carnival of lights and gaudy sculpture. I never have understood the fascination of "decoration" when it comes to disguising Nature's creations.

We got trees all over the place and none look alike. LOL
