A Christmas Tradition

Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol
first edition, 1843
" I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book,
to raise the Ghost of an idea, which shall not
put my readers out of humour with themselves,
with each other, with the season, or with me.
May it haunt their houses pleasantly,
and no one wish to lay it."
" I will honor Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year!"

~Scrooge

"My dear children, I am very anxious that you should know something about the History of Jesus Christ. For everybody ought to know about Him."
-Charles Dickens

  1. Betsy...we just watched "A Christmas Carol" on Sunday night. It was the version with George C. Scott. It always makes me want to be a kinder person, and has a message we should remember all year long. Merry Christmas!

  3. Can you believe I've never seen the George c. Scott version of "A Christmas Carol?"

It was ironically not that big growing up. For some very odd reason we grew up with "Aladdin," Cinderella," and then on TV it was always Wizard of Oz or "Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang" for xmas. Now though it just seems so quintessential to xmas.

  4. It is one of the best books so significant of the holidays.
If I do not get a chance later on, I would like to wish you and your five men a wonderful Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.
    Enjoy the Holidays.;)

  17. Hi Betsy ~~ Finally finshed everything for Christmas except the pies I make on Christmas Eve and the Turkey Christmas morning.

I love the Dicken's Christmas Carol. We have a 90 min. CD from the Radido Theatre, it's great to just listen, and use your imagination.

Your soup looks great and very close to my recipe too. Love it on cold nights.

Merry Christmas to You, Your Mister, and the boys.... Love and Hugs

  18. I have the Muppet version of "A Christmas Carol" at home ready to watch. I saw that with Rachel and TJ when they were young. I'm planning on having it for the grands when they are at the house.

Here's wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas this year.
