Today Is The Day!

Today is the big day! The annual Willow Manor Ball!
You know everyone is invited, so go on over and join
in...you won't be disappointed! I'm going early so I can
watch everyone arrive with their dates. I hear Clark
Gable is going to be there...along with hundreds of other
celebrities. Many friends from the bloggyhood are going!
I can't wait to see all the Bentleys coming down the driveway!
I was so happy when Don Knotts
invited me to be his escort! I've always had a little
crush on him! There's just something quite
attractive about this skinny, nerdy man! How could I
turn him down? I'm sure he will give us all lots of laughs!
Don't you think he'll be the perfect gentleman?
I hear he's a great dancer, too!
Just look at this gorgeous gown I'm wearing! It's a 1949 Dior called "Venus". This beautiful strapless pink ball gown, embellished with sequins, was the perfect dress for me! I can't wait see it sparkle and move in the candlelight! Mr. Knotts expressed mailed me these earrings as a gift! They are 14KT rose gold and diamond dangles from the 1920's! He accidentally left the price tag on the box ~ $995.00! Wow! He has very good taste! I have my dance card ready to go! I have a few gentlemen in mind that I have pencilled in for a dance! I left a few spaces open for some of my favorite blog gentlemen! Hopefully they'll ask me for a dance! (hint, hint!) And of course I wouldn't show up to Willow Manor without a gift! (in cyber land or real life!) I'm bringing this bottle of Bollinger 1988 vintage champagne ~ $400.00! Don't you love cyber balls? Money is just no object! hee-hee! Wasn't it thoughtful of Queen Elizabeth to ring me up and offer her horse drawn carriage to Mr. Knotts and me? It's the finishing touch! So, I hope to see you all there! At least stop over and have an hors d' oeuvre or two! Click here. See you there!

  2. Well all i can say is if you are going in that carriage it better be a lot warmer than it has as of late or you are going to be awfully cold in that pretty in pink gown.

Don knots! You're kidding?! I love him. He is soooo funny.

And may I ask, will there be a john Travolta dance grooves corner anywhere for those of us who can;t quite get down formal dancing as well?

  13. Sorry, I'm not as skinny or neardy, as that Don Knotts guy, but could you save me a spot on your dance card.

    Perhaps after Paul Newman?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Barry ~ After Paul Newman...you got it! I've been eyeing you on the dance floor and also standing over there by the seafood crepes! I'm glad you wore that hat...you look irrisistable in it! OH...here we go....it's our turn to dance....

    ReplyDelete
  16. Your vintage Dior is breathtaking! You will have the best time at the ball with Don Knotts. Would he be free for a dance or two? Send him round to "Linda #53" and I'll send him right back after. Promise. Come round for a martini if you get a chance. =D

    ReplyDelete
  17. Suzanne ~ oh dear, here...take my antique linen hanky and dry your eyes before your mascara runs! I'll return Paul...promise! Why don't you dance with Don until Paul is back. (watch your toes!) LOL!

  24. Hello Betsy,

May I say how much I enjoyed dancing with you. And Miss Piggy managed to keep her temper in check just long enough!

That dress of yours really is delightful; a wonderful find. And the earrings? Mr Knotts is a very generous man! Everyone is having such a great time. Though I notice Nancy's date has everyone's heads in a spin!

I also love the ceramic pumpkins in your side bar, not to mention pecan pie, cookies and toffee apples!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Derrick ~ you look simply dashing! What a wonderful date with Miss Piggy! You know, before the ball comes to an end, we really should get Don and Miss P to dance together. That would be quite a sight, huh?!

Speaking of pecan pie...I think I saw some little pecan tarts on Willows dessert table...let's go take a look...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Your dress is to die for! You look absolutely fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why thank you, Mr. Fox ~ let's have another dance before the night is over....do you do the fox trot? Mr. Knotts is showing off his single bullet to some of the ladies...I'll just stay on your arm for a bit longer, if you don't mind!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Such a small bullet... especially compared to my sword. Poor Don.

Fox trot? Years ago, in my honor, they created the Silver Fox Trot. Allow me to show it to you... for you may have as many dances as you'd like...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh, I knew you had a thing for me, Mr. Fox...ever since I showed of my pedicure early in the summer! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh nice, that dress is beautiful. That Willow is a real hostess. I might share Tom Jones with you for a dance. That is disco and I see...mmm...likes the disco.I love your jewelry too. Come over and reminesce with me.

You have the perfect gentleman for your escort, do tell Mr. Knotts hello for me.
Well perhaps I will see you on the dance floor. I hear the doorbell, Sam is here.

  41. Your dress is absolutly beautiful! I enjoyed watching you and Mr. Knotts make your entrance, it was quite charming!

    ReplyDelete
  42. you make a great cuppa, btw.

I;m getting ready for a dance off with Cuban. Cheeky monkey. Fancies himself the best dancer after Willow's comment. Just you wait.

And hey, what with your 5 men and the score of others who want to dance with the kin of the manor the rest of us are gonna have to wait a long time! ...Errr...any of those ginger bics left then? do hope you gave some to Willow and know where they are in this kitchen of theirs.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mmm ~ you'll just have to show Cuban some competition! I'm sure he's getting a little tired by now! ha!

Yes,...ginger biccies....they multiply in cyberspace, you know!

Where did Juliette go off to? I'd like to have a nice chat with her before you go....

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am in love with your Dior, my dear.

And Don Knotts! Why, I completely see the appeal.

    ReplyDelete
  45. So glad to meet you. You look beautiful. What an event!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Betsy,

You arrived in such style. Your gown is gorgeous. Did you know, your Mr. Knotts is from my home state of WV. He's quite the gentlemen. You, two make a delightful couple.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dear Kevin Costner was explaining to me that he was number 6 on someone's dance card after Fred Astaire.Must have been yours. He said it would be a hard act to follow.Beautiful dress!

    ReplyDelete
  48. oh that dress is just gorgeous, just simply gorgeous.. and your date.. what a honey of a man.. although I do think my date is best.. and yes, I most probably must share him, although my heart does not want to.

I couldn't care less if he sung all night to me .. just to have him by my side is enough... did you enjoy the 'little help from his friend'?

must run.. I have to go and sit with John!! make sure you get some of that wine !!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey, I wondered where Mr. Fox had been hiding all evening. He's over here flirting with my little sister!

Mr. Knotts got so scared when Reya brought out her crystal ball. He did that nervous "Mr. Chicken" thing and his eyes almost bugged out of his head. I think he needs a nice shot of vodka.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Pam ~ Mr. Costner was my date to the Manor Ball last year! Yes, I have to have one dance with him! What a lovely couple you make...enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Uh oh....poor Mr. Knotts! I do hope he's alright...I better go find him before he wanders somewhere and falls down your coal shoot! ha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. You in that Dior gown is a stunner. Don's not bad either! -J

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love your dress! I think I own one like that! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and saying hi :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I cannot get past the earrings. They look perfect with that vintage Dior dress. Don is a perfect gent. He has kept Gilles and I in stitches all night. Do you mind if I steal a dance with Don? I know Gilles would love to whirl you about on the dance floor, as well.

    ReplyDelete
  55. MW ~ Why yes...that would be fun...let's trade dates for a dance or two! You look absolutely radiant, btw....

    ReplyDelete
  56. you do the tango very well. I will ahve to practice more for next year's ball. Still, I;ve got good old Don Knotts beat I think. (I'm still laughing over his chicken face expressions. Can;t beat those.)

For now, I'm off to sleep land for a bit. I've danced my feet off with the most exquisite company. Thanks for helping me in Willows' kitchen too btw. IT was so nice to just lounge there. Shhhh....I've tucked some dark choccie digestives here and there for her and WT to to find later. Take some for your boys and the hubs too, my compliments. Cheers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Those earrings are simply breath taking. Mr. Knots must have quite a crush on you. It is so clever of you to find yourself such a charming and witty man. You are certain to have the most entertaining conversation in the room.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh my yes, I did feel like Cinderella as I entered the room. And Herr Mozart looked so terribly handsome in his blue suit! No wonder he grabbed the attention of all the ladies in the room!

Your gown was so lovely. I adore pink!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Lynette ~ you did look like Cinderella! I think some of the ladies were a little jealous of your date! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Mmmm~ oh, thank you! It was so great to finally meet you...just as charming as I expected! Thanks for the cookies, too! And those John Travolta moves....wow...you're good!

    ReplyDelete
  61. FUN! FUN! FUN!
I cannot wait for the weekend to run around and catch up on ALL the fun! LOVE your gown and ADORE those earrings!!!

How I would like a little sip of that lovely champagne too!!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dearest Betsy! Thank you for SO much for being the FIRST to drop by my party. Unfortunately, family obligations kept me unexpectedly occupied and I will have to enjoy the parties a tad more than fashionably late! But isn't that the joy of cyberspace? Our parties never end!

You gown was devine and your taste in escort immpecable. Don Knotts is an OLD family friend. Why, our family has watched nearly everything he has been in, Andy Griffith and the Ghost and Mr. Chicken being our favorites. I'm sure he must realize how close we are!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Robynn ~ oh yes, it was a fun time, wasn't it! I didn't realize you knew Mr. Knotts personally. He was such a gentleman and a fun date! He kept me in stitches all evening...along with quite a few other ladies! Stepped on my toes a couple of times, but that's alright! hee!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Betsy ... thanks very much for taking time to visit my blog. I don't know how you manage to do so much around the house, especially with looking after all the men in your household.

I've just been catching up on all the news at Willow Manor. It all sounds really fantastic, but I get the impression that Willow is a bit of a temptress, given that so many film stars wish to meet and dance with her. I think I'll have to do my 007 impression, to get her attention.
