And in the spirit of keeping it real,
here's a look at my extra crazy week!
- Harry pulled a bag of tortilla chips out of the pantry and knocked the olive oil pitcher to the floor....there was a small pond of oil on the floor before I got there to stop the flow. Harry just smiled, held out his bowl and chip bag. :)
- I was in a building in town where there wasn't any reception to my cell phone. The Mister got the call to his office from the school that Spencer didn't make it to the restroom and needed a change of clothes. This has only happened a couple of times in all of their years of school, but I always get the call. The Mister swears I didn't answer my cell on purpose! ha-ha.
- Taylor fell on his head playing intramural basketball at the University Monday night. He blacked out for a second and then couldn't feel his arms. Scary! So we met them at the ER, had xrays and then had 3 doctor appointments in the next 3 days and went back to the hospital for a CT scan. He's recouping very well....still sore, but prescription painkillers and a muscle relaxer have made a huge difference. He has a concussion and some spine trauma. He'll do some physical therapy sessions and another doctor visit later this month. We're just thanking God that he's OK! It could have been so much worse! He can go back to classes on Monday. Thanks to those of you who read this on my sidebar and sent good wishes and prayers our way!
- The mouse has outsmarted us so far.....the traps are set!
- The Mister kicked me in his sleep while having a dream! Hmmmm. He doesn't remember the dream, the kick, or me screaming! I told him if it happens again, he's on the couch. LOL!
- The morning after Taylor's trip to the ER, I ran to Kroger to get some groceries. I used one of the self checkout isles and pressed the appropriate buttons to receive $80 cash back. Yes, you guessed it....I took my groceries and walked off without the cash. I returned 15 minutes later but it was gone...of course. I think the creepy looking guy behind me buying a loaf of bread helped himself to my cash!
So, there you have a glimpse at my week! Taylor is so much better as of today! God is good...and the good always outweighs the bad! But I'm really glad this week is over! Enjoy your weekend blog friends! I'm baking 7 dozen chewy ginger cookies...some to freeze, some to give away and some to eat! The house smells heavenly! Taylor must be feeling better...he's eaten 6 so far! :)
All this and you still have time to email my daughter!
ReplyDeleteYou are now called "Saint Betsy".
Is there an award for someone who can endure and still smile?
If there is you have just recieved it.
Christine ~ you daughter is sweet! I hope I gave her some helpful information!
ReplyDeleteWhat a week you had. I'm glad it's improving.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look wonderful!
Yep, I get it. I have many weeks I would not like to repeat. It all is good in the long run, but sometimes those short runs would have been nice to avoid. Or, wouldn't it be great just to be able to stop the whole world for one whole week and be nowhere, responsible for nothing, doing nothing, thinking nothing. On second thought, I would probably be bored out of my gourd after the first hour!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, oh mu goodness I am so happy to hear Taylor is going to be OK...those phone calls are hard ones to receive...hang in there and hopes for a more calm upcoming week!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Betsy! You have really had a week! I'm so glad Taylor is okay. I know you were frightened. Clean ups, doctor visits, nursing a sick child and now you are busy baking cookies? I would be laid out on the couch with a cool cloth on my head wearing a sign that said Do Not Disturb!
ReplyDeleteWow, that does sound like quite a week. I'm glad for you it is over too. So glad your son is ok. What a blessing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteTo you... You don't know any different after all these years. To us, it's overwhelming. Your the best Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a week! I think you deserve to collapse into bed early like I did last night.
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so thankful Taylor's injuries weren't worse. Wow, sounds like a scary few days with all of that.
Betsy! Oh my! SO glad Taylor is feeling better and he certainly looked handsome last night...not a hint of the trauma he has endured this week...please tell him if he was still feeling quite badly that I think he is a great actor!!
ReplyDeleteI am SOOOO MAD about your cash!! GRRR!
Jill ~ I think he may have overdone it last night...it's 11pm on a Saturday night and he just went to bed! He is so much better, though!
ReplyDeletethe kick was a get back for skipping the call from the school...i'm just guessing. lol. glad to hear your boy is ok. head trauma is nothing to mess with. have a great sunday!
ReplyDeleteWow, you HAVE had quite a week. Glad your boy is doing better and that you have such a great testimony of God. I'm going back to click on the cookies and get the recipe. They look divine.
ReplyDeletePS I'm sorry about the cash. What a naughty man to not turn it in.
Poor Taylor~~ouchies! My school sports was limited( very ).S ending some healing rays to Taylor :)
ReplyDeleteI abhor those self-check-out thingys. I always look round for a front end person to help out, if I've no choice. And you can get cash back? Glad I don't use a debit card-LOL! Of course, I've forgotten to immediately grab my change, and then remember at the last minute. Wondering if you can report the loss?( if the store has a camera on the registers, and they prob'ly do....y'know? ) Dat's a lotta lettuce that could've bought more chewy...ginger...cooookies!
I'm so glad Taylor is feeling better - what a scary thing to have happen! Your attitude to a crazy week is wonderful! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a very busy week.;) So sorry to hear about Taylor, I am happy he is doing fine. He seems like a strong young man.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday Betsy, hopefully a laid back one.;)
xo
What has happened to all of the honest people in America?? :(
ReplyDeleteI think your mister kicked you on purpose. That will teach you not to answer your phone. ;)
my mister hit me in the shoulder in his sleep on our honeymoon night!! I told him the same thing...lol
ReplyDeleteBrian and Natalie ~ You know, I think you might be on to something! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, what a week that must have been. Hope it all improves now.
ReplyDeleteJust Moi ~ on your honeymoon no less! ha-ha! The Mister months ago punched my pillow and scared me to death! (in his sleep, of course) So, I claimed this house as a three-strikes-you're-out zone and he's received his final warning! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou manage with so much humor.
ReplyDeleteAS for the Mister kicking you, mine woke me around 3:30AM last night to say he'd had a dream his mother needed him. He couldn't go back to sleep. I said,
"Call her".
He wouldn't.
After that, I couldn't go back to sleep either.
California Girl ~ Oh, that's funny! My Mister is always waking me up to say he can't sleep! But only after he's tossed and turned so much I've woken up...and then I say "Oh really! I couldn't tell!" LOL!
ReplyDeleteWow, Betsy. Thanks for keeping it real!
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a week! I'm so glad that Taylor is okay. We had a scare with our son bouncing out of a bounce around and hitting the church gym floor a few weeks ago. It was so scary! We had to do the ER & CAT scan, too, and thankfully he was fine.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your cash~doesn't that just *beat all* (to quote my grandma:)
We have not had the greatest week around here either...I'm looking forward to a MUCH better week this week!!
Dear Betsy: I am sorry we left before saying goodbye to you. I don't know where our manners were. I enjoyed seeing you at the wedding. Sorry for Tayor, try to get him to a good chiropractor to treat his neck. I am certain that some of the joints are in stress mode. I will browse your web more often now that I have found it again. Love USTEVE
ReplyDeleteMmmm...those cookies soudns so good. I can almost smell them.
ReplyDeleteTaylor looks wel relaxed on that very comfy looking chair. A good palce to recuperate indeed. I pray the rest of his recoup time goes as well. How scary.
Sometime not having phone reception can be a a very good thing!
I had to chuckle to myself at the picture of the held out bowl and the oil spill.
These "keepign it real" posts are rapidly becoming some of my faves. Your outlook speaks volumes. Sorry about the cash though. Ugh.
When Robert went to Air Assault School (which is where you repel out of a helicopter) in 1989, he came back and of course was very exhausted. Preface the rest of the story with this was the only other time that I've really had long hair...that first night he was home I woke up with my head being pulled backwards. I was finally able to get my elbow back far enough to get him to let go. The next morning I said something to him and he had been having a dream about repeling out of the helicopter...and he was using my hair as the rope. I think I'd take the kick.
ReplyDeleteIck on the $80.
Oh, dear Betsy....What a time you've had of it lately...I would suggest a cyber pot of tea but I dare say you need something stronger!...
ReplyDeleteI'm sending prays your way....
