According to WikiAnswers.com, the two fruits are....
1. Strawberries. This was the easy one and most everyone got it right away.
2. Pineapples. They also have their seeds on the outside. They are removed when the tough skin is cut off. The seeds are in the many thick, hard floral brackets or leaf-like petals on the outside of a pineapple ~ the shield-shaped things that make up the familiar pattern on their bodies. Sometimes when you cut the skin off, the little seeds, which look like apple seeds are visible, as the shields are cut open.
Although none of them were completely sure of their answers, they did actually mention strawberries and pineapples in their guesses. And they were right! :)

You know, I cut pineapple all the time for my family. You'd think I'd realize it since there are no seeds on the inside.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I just had a feeling...I also found out that cashews grow outside the host plant( tho' not considered a fruit itself but pretty cool )...nice artwork, here :)
ReplyDeleteI never even considered how a pineapple produces seeds. Interesting. BTW, I've never seen that Renoir either.
ReplyDeleteSo the great unanswered question is "where is the seed in a banana"?
