Bringing the Green Inside

The houseplants have enjoyed the spring and summer
months outside on the porches and in the courtyard.
I think they enjoyed the filtered light and being watered
by the rain clouds. Bringing them inside recently, has
reminded me how a few plants can make a room feel so
alive and cozy! So I welcome in the ivy, cyclamen and
the monster fern....among a few other friends. :)

  1. I love plants, but they die when I bring them in. Yours look lovely!

  2. My cyclamen is still in the ground--I'll dig it soon. Ferns don't do well in my house as they want a south facing window (and so do I). Your plants are beautiful!

I will bring the geraniums in before a hard frost and put them in the basement to winter over. They did well last year.

  4. Lynne ~ I brought geraniums in one year for the winter years ago...they did do very well and were absolutely huge by spring time! I should bring them in again!

  9. Alas, the cooler weather means we can no longer keep the windows open...so the plants will have to wait 'til spring. Just give 'em a window with lotsa light like yours, and they're happy :)

  11. Lovely; I am always worried about bringing outdoor plants inside because there might be bugs living in the dirt.;)

  17. I usually am able to leave my plants outside until the first weekend in November here. I have a huge philodendron like plant that has gotten too big to be moved anymore. It stays in the living room year round. With all the rain this year, the blooming plants on the front porch are prettier than they have ever been.

  19. Lovely greenery in your home, Betsy. I would love to bring some into the Hyggehus, but with 4 cats, it's nigh on impossible!

  22. I heard you could save geraniums, but I didn't have any luck with it. your plants are so pretty.

  23. Solar ~ I just brought the geraniums in and treated them like a normal house plant. (watering weekly in a sunny window) They didn't bloom again until spring, but they grew over the winter and were really big!

  26. I love the ivy in particular.

For years we had a monster Spider plant that was incredible but in one move it sadly got detroyed. Now I have another spider plant but just realised I left it outside and its snowed since. Quite sure it;s dead now. Never mind, it was barely making it anyway.
