My Favorite Egg Dish

Ever since I was 14 years old, I have admired this deviled
egg dish in The Mister's family home.
When my mother-in-law passed away last year, it's the
thing I asked for when her house was cleaned out.
It's traveled from her china cabinet to mine!
It makes me smile as I pass by it every day.
Today I thought we should get it out and use it.
After all, deviled eggs look absolutely adorable on it,
don't you think?
And I did a makeover on your grandma's recipe,
using whole grain mustard, white wine vinegar
and fresh dill.

  1. I love blue, and I really love blue and white together. This is such a pretty dish, even if I have only made deviled eggs one time, and in the past few months! I'm going to do it again though.

You could have shared this at the rooster party too. I loved the story behind it.

  3. Love that egg dish. Never seen one quite like it. So special being your Mister's Moms.

Our oldest daughter has an egg dish collection. I passed the milk glass one from Don's mom to her. But I've never seen one as unique as your blue and white.

I use fresh Dill.... it was my maiden name :)

  4. Oh Betsy! I absolutely adore this dish! I love blue and white together and this is such a special piece... I would have asked for it too! I am so glad you were able to keep it in your family and that you smile every time you see it. How special is that?! I have not had devilled eggs in ages - must make some soon.
    Big hugs...

  8. Jeni ~ I don't really measure anything...just mayo, whole grain mustard, sugar, salt, pepper and a dash of white wine vinegar...mix with the yolks. The dill was a garnish and not mixed in.

  9. Betsy! They look mouth-wateringly gorgeous! You know, my in-laws are vegetarians and even eggs are frowned on. Oh, I get to have them all right, but only on the sly! I loved the story about the dish too.

    your plate is so pretty!

my family loves deviled eggs. I have Jeff's grandmother's Frankhoma pottery egg plate.

I like to take d.eggs to covered dish meals at church and parties, they seem to always be the first dish empty too.

  25. I do love a deviled egg dish. but I love the dish even more: My Mom and Grandmothers survived a catastrophic fire so I feel they were truly meant to be used - and I am glad to see yours for this same reason: Suvivors.
