My Favorite Drive-Thru

A sweet girlfriend and I went to lunch today and also
had to stop by my favorite sweet corn farm.
They pick fresh daily and have a drive-thru of all
things. I think it's the best corn in the area and
we were not disappointed at supper tonight!
2 dozen Bi-Color ears....thank you to The Mister
for doing the shucking!
I use the Martha Stewart rule of 6 minutes in boiling water.
It's perfect every time.
Real butter, kosher salt....yum!
So...here's a question for you....do you eat your corn left to
right in rows like a typewriter? Or do you turn the ear so
you eat around the cob before moving along?
Or are you like my Alex, who dives right into the center? LOL

  1. Yum, this corn looks delicious. I always start at the left, and I think pretty much go around the cob before preceeding to the right. I never thought about that before, how we all probably devour corn differently. Interesting.

  2. Lynn ~ I'm glad you stopped by! I eat mine left to right, in rows. But we all get a kick out of each other crunching along the rows together! LOL

  4. Oh. Yum. What gloriously fresh looking corn. I eat mine twirling around as I go. But maybe I should try two at a time, since I love it so much!

  6. How funny, I usually start in the center then go to each side. I love fresh corn on the cob. What a thrill to be able to have it fresh from the thrill. The picture looks good enough to eat by itself. lol Also, just a remind that the next "Cloche Party" is scheduled for Sept. 11th for the Fall season. Can't wait to see you there. Hugs, Marty

  9. I never remember how long to boil the corn! Thanks for the info! I just got 3 ears free at Stop and Shop. I got an e-mail from the website and I just had to load it onto my card. Yay, corn!!

  10. How cool is it to have a drive-thru farmer's market!?!

And you know, I never really thought about it, but I eat my corn by rotating it around left to right:)

  11. The picture of Alex (2007) is so darn cute! He must really enjoy corn on the cob.

I like to eat my corn on the cob like a typewriter. I always have a vision of a cartoon in my head, when I eat it. It is playing the typewriter song, Ding! Kernels are flying...do you know the one?

  12. Oh Man! Does that corn ever look inviting! I love corn, especially corn on the cob but have had to curtail eating it because it does nasty things to my innards! And, the last thing I need is a case of diverticulitis or worse yet,a real blockage of the colon. I don't want, definitely don't need, any more abdominal surgeries but that still doesn't keep me from drooling and dreaming over the taste of a nice hot ear of corn, dripping with real butter and laced very heavily too with salt and a bit of black pepper too!

  13. I love this picture of Alex on the sidebar! How many ears did he eat last night? :) I think I am a typewritter girl although I had never thought of that question before. I may have to try the other way next time. Soooo good. Basic foods are the best.

  14. By the way...didn't you have a post last year with the picture of the drive-thru? Or did I just imagine it?

  17. Betsy, I think I use all three corn eating methods. Love the drive-though produce idea. I'd love a drive-through tomato right now!

  18. We just had corn on the cob also, delicious. But, it's up to $6.00 a dozen, what are you all paying for it now?

  20. I love SWEET CORN SEASON!!! We had our first batch this week as well and it was AMAZING! We laughed at Sam who eats his randomly and when he announces he is done it looks like a rat nibbled it!

  21. Besty, we had sweet corn for dinner last night so I thought I would experiment with my corn.

I am normally a left to right kinda girl but as I tried different methods of eating corn I realized this could be fun.

Gotta tell you, I felt a little "naughty" as I tried these different ways to eat corn.

I think I'll stay with my tried and true way. Left to right, left to right....
