Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!

The Mister, Taylor and I had a fun trip to Indianapolis today.
We're home....tanned, tired and the sound of 800 horsepower
ringing in our ears! Our favorite sitter watched the triplets
for us. She did a great job...as always. We were gone 13
hours...which is a long time to watch anybody's kids...
autistic or not! We're very thankful for her!
And the best part...we get to do it again up in
Michigan next month! :)

  1. I bought my hubby a ticket to the race in Louden in September for part of his 10th wedding anniversary present. I also got him a pit pass!! He is really excited. We were going to go to the race together last year but I am not a fan of large crowds and not ready to be so far away from my kids all day : ( Maybe I'll be brave enough some day!

Glad to hear you had fun and have a great sitter. We have a sitter for the kids every once in a while only because she lives almost 2 hours away and works full time. When she does watch them we really enjoy our time out because we know we can trust her and she really loves our kids. We need more great sitters for our Autistic kids!

  3. I read in the paper today that Barber Motorsports Park is bringing Indie Racing to the area. "The Indy Racing League has reached an agreement to bring Danica Patrick, Helio Castroneves and its high-speed, high-tech cars to Barber Motorsports Park for three years starting in 2010." Maybe the three of you can come down this way sometime in the future.

  4. Looks like a good time. I know Hubby was watching some of the race on tv, but he's been sick so I don't know if he saw all of it during the naps.

I don't think you'll be close enough to drop by, will you?

  5. I was watching the first of the race with my honey also. You were in my old stompin' grounds. I lived in West Indianapolis, not to far from Speedway when I was growing up. I'll bet you had so much fun. Did you get to see any drivers up close? Who is your favorite driver?

  12. We almost met :-) We brought the boys to the practice on Friday. We've haven't brought them to the race yet (their passion) because we weren't sure if they were "ready." I regret that we didn't go this year because I think they ARE ready now!!! Next year, we're there!!!!!

  17. Dear Betsy, I will never forget going to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 way back in 1974! What a thrill ... the noise, the people, the excitement. Jim Nabors (Gomer Pyle)sat right behind us!

You are so right about sitters. Too many people don't put enough thought and effort into choosing the right person .... good for you!

  18. yes they did! esp the ones that had the race on in their rooms! they were probably wondering why their nurse was hovering in their rooms and giving them extra attention...lol

  25. We almost went when we were in Indy (to the track, not to an actual race, alas) - but we ended up going to Conner Prairie instead. It was really cool, I have to say. And I thought of you when we drove "through" (really almost over!) Dayton.

  26. Hi Betsy

I popped over here from Willows because you looked such a lovely person and I wasn't wrong.
I see you love nascars - no I don't but my husband and sons are car enthusiasts - they restore mopars and lasr Sunday held their annual drag and display event called Mopar Sunday. It began as a birthday treat for my husband and has grown into a national event. If you are interested you can see their day at moparsunday.com

It's nice to come across you Betsy

    Happy days
