Well, it seems that way in our house! The past few
mornings, I have been awakened to our DVD of
A Christmas Carol blasting through the house!
(sorry the embed has been removed...just click the link.)
And to those of you familiar with autistic kids, they love to repeat
things. (Well, at least mine do!) So, it's been "Old Marley's as dead as
a doornail".... that one phrase....again and again and again.
It's been an interesting way to wake up, that's for sure!
You have the best sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteBless you!
It's just like that every day in my house!
ReplyDeleteStephen has a favorite movie of the "month" that we all get to watch twice a day at bread and jelly time (siezure meds) and then hear quoted throughout the day. Last "month" it was Charlotte's Web. I have now been able to switch him over to Lady and the Tramp. And he likes to crank the volume just like your kiddos and rewind his favorite bits when we leave the entertainment center open!
Poor Betsy, I bet you wish that tape was a dead as a doornail!
ReplyDeleteAh, that must be so funny.;)) And at times surreal.;))
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they will play something that will make you feel like July comes Christmas.;))
One of the true delights of blogs is the insight it gives you into other people's lives, other people's problems, other people's courage and other people's humour. You courage and humour shine through Betsy.
ReplyDeleteMost certainly an interesting choice of repetition on their part! It probably won't be the same now when you watch it during the Christmas season. They may be able to quote it for you by then.
ReplyDeleteOh funny! But, the guys are actually RIGHT ON as several places have had their Christmas in July specials and the radio station at the pool played all carols on Sunday!!
ReplyDeletehahahaha What a funny way to start a day! Love that quote from the text of the story - so many movie versions leave that out!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy! Your blog interests me because I have a nephew with an ASD. I echo everything that Alan Burnett says.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are supported by your family and that you manage to get out and about sometimes.
Do they always agree on what to watch? How funny.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I think it must be more pleasant to be awakened to the soft purr of the coffee maker!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Nanny... Do they always agree on what to watch?

ReplyDeleteQQueen B ~ We've had a Charlotte's Web craze here before. The absolute all time favorite is the original 101 Dalmatians. I bet they've watched it daily since they were 18 months old. We've joked that we can recite the whole movie from memory!
ReplyDeletenanny ~ no, they don't always agree! But we have more than one tv/dvd in the house so that helps. And, with youtube, they can find just about any movie clip they like on the computer. The only problem with this is that we can have 3-4 different things blasting through the house. LOL! It's about this time of summer that I start looking forward to school starting up again!
ReplyDeleteS-C-R-O-O-O-O-G-E!!!! This reminds me of the time your four year old nephew was stuck on the muppet version of this story. He loved it and would watch it again and again. One time when visitors were leaving, he bid the woman goodbye by saying, "Goodbye, Old Scrooge!" The visitor was NOT amused. After they left, I asked him why. He said, "I thought it would make her laugh." She didn't.
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ Oh, yes...I remember that!
ReplyDeleteYou're exorcising ghosts, Betsy! I can't even handle that loop at the beginning of a dvd for more than 5 minutes. I don't know how you do it. You have surely been blessed with the patience of Job!
ReplyDeleteKat
When my daughter was four she had to watch ANNIE every single day. I still hear that movie's songs playing in the background of my mind..lol
