Grilled Pizza

Have you ever made grilled pizza? It's only on the grill about
3 minutes and is delish!
It has a thin, crispy crust and a little bit of that charred-ness
just gives it some of that brick oven taste.
Grilled Pizza
~~~~
1 lb fresh pizza dough or frozen bread dough, thawed
Divide in 4 parts and roll into 8" circles.
Brush both sides with olive oil and grill 1-2
minutes, covered.
Turn over, add toppings. Cover and grill
2-3 more minutes until bottom is brown
and cheese is melted.
~~~~
I use my stovetop JennAir grill, so I
divided the dough into 8 parts, 6" wide.
I grilled them 2 at a time and used 2
saucepan lids as covers.
One trick...make sure all of your toppings
are warm and very thinly sliced.
Use a thin layer of cheese.
Thick cheese will take too long to melt and
you will burn the bottom.
My dough never rolled out in perfect
circles, as you can see...they are rustic, let's say. :)
Enjoy!
my pizzas, shown, made with homemade sauce,
thinly sliced veggies, sweet Italian chicken sausage,
and finely shredded 4 cheese blend.

  1. Can't go wromg with pizza! I can't wait to fire up the BBQ grill again this summer. It's been so busy for us that we haven't had the chance as yet.

  3. Those really look GREAT. I will have to try this...I worry that the flame on our grill may be too much BUT I could play with it a bit.

  4. What a super idea! I'm really into homemade pizza lately. Doing it outside on the grill will keep the heat out of the kitchen, too.

  5. Yummmmmm! Right after Christmas my side of the family gathered at a house in the mountains and we made grilled pizzas one night dinner... my youngest sister was in charge. They turned out great and everyone LOVED them. I should make some of my own, a good summer dinner as they could be cooked outside where the heat belongs anyway!

    I'm curious, do you have a pizza crust recipe that you love? I've yet to find one that is just right.
