I must admit there are times when having boysare so much easier than girls! After talking to
some of my friends who have senior girls this year,
I know that our senior picture experience was less
painful. Taylor didn't want a big fuss....the only
outfit change was to remove the hoodie and put
on a sweater. The only thing he did to get
ready was to take a shower and brush his teeth!
I can't imagine the makeup, hair and outfit
choices if he were a girl.
We were in and out of there in
30 minutes and that included seeing shots on
the computer and picking our favorites!

ReplyDeleteYes, that is definitely easier than it is for girls! And senior pics back in my day were nothing compared to what they are now! I can't even imagine how stressed I would be~ha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome young man. Yes, boys are easier than girls in many ways. I had one of each and I adore them both, but some things were easier.
ReplyDeleteHah! As the mama of boys I say, "Amen to that!" I remember my own girlish senior portrait experience... the drama, that hair {I repeat, THE HAIR}, the outfit dilemmas... oh my! Bunches of kudos to my mom who gracefully saw three daughters through the ordeal!

ReplyDeleteThat WAS simple, lucky you! I know when I had mine done years ago, about when you would have, I changed two or three times, and it was nothing like it is today. A lot of it was just so the family could have different pictures other than the standard one in the yearbook. None of mine were fancy either, and I didn't wear those wrappy things some people would put on that the photographer had. I just took my own clothes.
ReplyDeleteSo far I have fairly non-fussy girls. One is girly, but easy to please. The non-girly one is actually tougher, because she hates to shop and dress up. She considers fancy when a shirt has a slightly detailed stitch or maybe a couple of extra buttons on it. I guess I'll be going through this in a few years and you can laugh your socks off at me.
Great senior pic! My 18 year old daughter's session lasted almost 3 hours and she had 6 or 7 outfit changes. It was 90 degrees that day and by the end we all were exhausted. Boys are definately easier. Hope you have a nice week-end and good luck with graduation and all the senior stuff. Cindy
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this entire unfair difference recently when husband went on the weekend fishing trip. He grabbed jeans and toothbrush and was out of here. I thought wow, do you realize how long it would have taken me to sort, try on and pack for a weekend,,,,,ha

I have the funniest memory of your neice getting ready for her senior picture! She tried too hard, spending two hours on her hair, and when it was done, it looked like one of the pyramids in Egypt, with bangs! LOL!

Nice looking young man. Our last child, daughter, didn't do all the different shots and poses. She wore the same dress for all the shots and it was just the traditional shots. I couldn't see any sense in having all those shots and poses in different outfits, unless she was using it for a portfolio for a modeling job. It was just too expensive.

ReplyDeletegirlsinwhitedresses ~ well, you probably won't believe this, but we went to Walmart! We had 12 poses to choose from and walked out with 2 poses, as many copies as we needed, including a nice large sepia toned one and we paid $64.oo total! Some of Taylor's friends paid around $300! I'm so glad he didn't want a big fuss. He's happy with what he got and we were thrilled with the stress free and inexpensive experience! There's enough expense coming up in the next few months like prom, senior trip, graduation and college! eeeeek!

ReplyDeleteYou are lucky, if I recall it took me 3 hours to get my shots done. That was after the make-up and hair.
ReplyDeleteIn my defense though, it was a SUPER humid day. So I had to keep re-doing my hair between outfit changes and indoor and outdoor shots. *sighs*

ReplyDeleteBetsy, he so handsome, wish we lived closer, Dave could have did his photos. :) Does he plan on going to college, my son is 23 and is in Jr. College (taking his time) and my step daughter is at a University. Then I have a step son who is a senior too (planning to go to collge). Congrats to him and to you and your husband for your hard work as parents.
