"White is not a mere absence of colour;
it is a shining and affirmative thing,
as fierce as red, as definite as black.
God paints in many colours;
but He never paints so gorgeously,
I had almost said so gaudily, as when He paints in white."
--Gilbert Keith Chesterton [British author, 1874–1936]

Fresh, crisp, clean, beautiful, spirited - WOW! Kim
ReplyDeleteI love that house! AND, I MISS my picket fence SOOOO much!
ReplyDeleteJUST BEAUTIFUL!
WHAT is up with this weather?!? UGH!
I LOVE those teapots!!! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAh, I love those pictures! Especially the last one of the snow covered trees.
ReplyDeleteAs a child I lived (and was born) in the mountains and we would get lots of snow. Often when my father would drive, we would watch the trees from the car window and call them "whipped cream covered winter trees".
I miss those kind of "mountain" winters, filled with snow and sun and very dry type of crisp cold, with no wind.;)
Beautiful! I love the pictures, especially the snow covered trees.
ReplyDeletefresh and clean - i love white too. i have a post i've been working on, so i might use this quote. beautiful! happy new yr, btw!
ReplyDeleteSandy ~ please use the quote...absolutely! :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought about how much naturally occurring white there is in nature. These are all beautiful white images.
ReplyDeleteI recently saw a white Martha Stewart cake stand that I can't forget. It was so sweet and appealing. I really coveted it. I don't even bake cakes except for the occasional birthday cake. But I want that white cake stand!
Pretty ironstone! And I always wanted a pet owl.
ReplyDeleteSigh... I love Chesterton and white. Nice post, Betsy.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I would do my whole house in shades of white if it weren't for budget and kids! I did just fill up my mantel with milk glass, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThose trees are amazing! Glad there are still colors to post.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! The purity and cleanliness of white. I admit when I see mounds of freshly falled snow I often get a craving for vanilla ice-cream!
