Slow Down, You Move Too Fast....

( I love that old song!)
This turtle represents that sentiment of slowing down.
It's an annual thought on my New Year's Resolution/Goal
list. And it will probably always be there! We all need to
slow down a little ....take time to appreciate beauty,
savor the moments of our children growning up,
have a meaningful conversation, or just listen to the
silence as you drink a cup of coffee.
It's hard to count your blessings if you are dashing from
one thing to another!
I find these little moments so refreshing...and every year
I'm determined to take more of them!
Because they are there for the taking...if we slow down
long enough to notice!

Enjoy the New Year adn embrace those kids just a little tighter and longer. Enjoy.

  3. Oh yes, they ARE there for the taking, aren't they? I've never thought about it that way, but oh so true.

  7. Hello Betsy!

We're back from Colorado where we had a wonderful first Christmas with our grandson. We already miss him so much.

I do know what you mean about slowing down -- it's a very good resolution for the new year. I feel like my hourglass has more sand in the bottom than the top, and I'm trying to slow down the flow as much as possible to savor each grain.

HAPPY 2009! Many blessings in the new year.

    Hugs, Pat

  10. I love the sentiments in this post; I could not agree more. The best things in life sometimes pass us by, as we have no time to pay attention.
I would like to wish you and your family a very Happy 2009.;)

  11. Its a reminder that I no longer see turtles or toads or frogs...

I hope 2009 will be better than 2008, 2007, and 2006. I do think our government will be inspired by our new President Obama -- at least I hope so.

I would like to see the War in Irag end and I would like to see the killing stop everywhere.

It is my hope that Japan will stop slaughtering whales and raping virgin forests.

And I hope the people will lose their clubs and no longer club baby seals to death.

What a world we have and live in. 2009 could be so much better than it will be.

  12. Very wise thoughts you've expressed here. Time rushes by if we don't take the time to enjoy the little blessings in life we are poorer for not doing so.

    Happy 2009!

    Blessings!

  14. I like the idea... which is extolled in my favourite book "How to be Idle." One day I'll learn to follow its direction more effectively. :)

  16. Yes...a great goal. Oddly one of mine this year is to sleep more. I have to say that has never been one in years past. Thanks for this reminder.
