Apple Cake

A friend gave us 2 large bags of apples from their trees
the other day! I peeled, cored and sliced 48 cups of
apples and put them in the freezer!
And in perfect timing.....
my bloggy friend Lora at My Blessed Life posted this
recipe and I tried it. Oh my....moist and perfect!
Click here for her recipe....easy and delicious!
Perfect for coffee cake or dessert...and perfect for fall!
Thanks, Lora! It's an instant family favorite!

  1. Drooling...

So, to freeze apples do you just core, peel, and chop them then freeze, or do you cook them first?

    48 cups... my goodness!

  2. Wow! 48 cups of apples!! That's a lot. I didn't really even know you could freeze apples, that's good to know.
I'm so glad you like the cake! I got the recipe from my mom, but I think it's originally my grandma's though.

  7. MG ~ I slice them into a large bowl of water with a few glugs of lemon juice added to keep them from turning brown. Drain and put into freezer bags. I put about 6 cups into each bag...the amount for a pie. You can put them right into a pie or crisp without thawing and they bake just fine!

  12. WOW! I guess if you dealt with that many apples, you deserve a treat. I've gained 5 pounds just from the picture. But do you think that's gonna stop me from going and getting the recipe? Of course not!

Oh, now my mother-in-law and step-father are also big fans of the bread pudding... I never knew so many in my family were deprived!
