after dinner as we sat around the table. I don't know if it
was because we were tired and silly, or just relaxed after
eating. We would get each other going and I can remember
tears streaming down my face and my sides hurting so much!
To this day, I never laugh like that unless I'm around them!

Studies show that laughing each day can add up
to 8 years to your life! So, it's fruit, veggies,
water, exercise and laughter!
I also believe having a sense of humor relieves
stress, which I seem to be an expert on. :)
I was wondering where you were going with this picture and the subject of sisters. I was relieved you didn't tell this was from our family album! Whew.
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ no, this isn't any cousin or uncle that you didn't know about. :) But it did make me laugh! (just trying to add years, here!)
ReplyDeleteWell, you succeeded in making me laugh! Before I even read your posting! Fabulous photo of the cycling monkey.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I had one of those side-aching kind of laughs was at our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt this past spring. One of the sweet fathers had been talked into wearing the bunny suit in order to play the Easter Bunny. He slipped off unnoticed to don his costume and, without his wife to help him, returned wearing the festive attire, backwards. He was totally innocent and unaware of the problem, and I simply could not look at him with his little pink pom-poms running down his back instead of his front, without falling over laughing. But I really couldn't laugh in front of the believing children, so I was hiding behind trees, howling.
Laughter is as a good medicine! When my girls get together with their girl cousins.....it's mayhem....laughing and snorting and knee slapping....it must be a girl thing!
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to have one of those moments again. I feel like I haven't laughed that good in years. I do remember the days of having those moments of laughing so hard I cried and thought I'd never be able to stop.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, pop over to the birdbath when you get a moment, I've given you an award!
ReplyDeleteRe: this post: yes... very well said, and very true. A sense of humour is one of our greatest gifts. And what an appropriate pic!
Pamela ~ Oh, that is a funny story! What a great dad to take on that job. We do need to laugh more....I don't do enough of the side-splitting kind!
ReplyDeleteStrider ~ maybe it is a girl thing....and when you start snorting, that just makes everyone laugh harder!
ReplyDeleteFragile~ boy, I know exactly what you are saying! I think it's the burden we carry for our special kids....it's a heavy one! I remember those first few years after mine were diagnosed....I don't think I laughed for many years.
ReplyDeleteLavinia ~ ok...I'll be over...what do you have up your sleeve now???
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your birdbath award from Lavinia. You have a lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Laughter is essential for our well-being. My husband and I laugh lots and it keeps US young.
Kat

ReplyDeleteI love laughing like that. The later I stay up at night the sillier I get. Everything is hilarious at 2 am.
ReplyDeletePoetikat ~ thank you! And thanks for visiting! :)
ReplyDeleteSteviewren~ yes, you are right...everything gets funnier the later it is! I guess that's why slumber parties were so fun when we were kids!
ReplyDeleteJulie ~ yes, sisters can be good for that! And when we are older, it's fun to remember the way it used to be. I'm amazed that the studies show how good laughing really is for us!
ReplyDeleteI laugh alot so am going to live to be a ripe old prune one day! LOL.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! A good laugh releases a lot of healthy endorphins.
ReplyDeleteWhen we go out to a movie we always look for a good comedy:-)
Everyone needs to have a good belly laugh every now and again. That's one of the great things about children, siblings and pets...You can have some great laughs with them...
