Broccoli Salad

**click on me to enlarge
1 big bunch broccoli, chopped
1/2 sweet onion, chopped fine
13 strips bacon, crisp and broken
1 c sunflower seeds
1 c mayo
2 T vinegar
1/2 c sugar
Whisk the last 3 ingredients and pour
over the other. Stir and eat!

Above is the basic recipe.
I just use whatever
I happen to have. The picture above has
peanuts instead of the seeds. I also
added 1/2 cup shredded cheddar.
It's also great with dried cranberries.
To make it extra easy,
I use the precooked bacon and
buy the fresh broccoli already chopped.

  3. I smiled when I saw this post because it reminded me of a dear little boy in the Sunday school class that we teach who loves broccoli salad. Your recipe sounds delicious... however, if I made it I would be the only one eating it. My 3 men won't eat it. I guess I'll have to pay you a visit. Save me some.

  4. MG ~ Come right on over for some! It isn't fun to make something just for yourself! My oldest loves this...the cheese, peanuts and bacon really help. :)

  5. I use this same recipe for mine except I put raisins in it instead of seeds. I like the substitutes that you use...I might have to try using them next time. Yummy, makes me want a big bowl full!

I can see that the cheese and bacon would appeal to the young.
