Millipede
Basket Star
Cushion Star
Netted Star
Sugar Star
Here's another entry on shells and other
ocean life. Not all of these starfish are mine.
I have several cushion, sugar and netted starfish.
But the others are new to me! I have never
heard of or seen photographs of these other
interesting star fish. I gave you the names
with the pictures this time since some were
sure to stump you!
Wow, I had no idea there were so many types of starfish. Aren't they beautiful?
ReplyDeleteThe brittle star is very spider-like...as for the basket star...it looks like some child's crazy doodles!
ReplyDeleteSteviewren ~ yes, they are! And I was pleasantly surprised to find these new ones!
ReplyDeleteLavinia ~ I was curious as to why the brittle star has that name. Maybe it is just that...brittle and easily broken when it is dry. That basket star looks like a net of knitting or crochet...maybe Knitting Mania would think it looked like a purse! :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, perhaps Knitting Mania will create a shell or starfish inspired handbag next?
ReplyDeleteI had no idea there were that many sea stars! They are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I am loving your shell/sea theme posts and now these amazing starfish! What extraordinary sea specimens...God sure has made some extremely unique creatures, hasn't He?
ReplyDeleteThey're beautiful and very appropriately named.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have one of those sunflower starfish for my collection!
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ me, too! I'm just amazed that some of these beautiful unique ones aren't well known!
ReplyDeleteReally nice. I never saw anything like these before. Nice photography.
ReplyDeleteThese are all quite interesting Betsy...but I just want you to know I am blown away with the beauty of the flowers on your sidebar...GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea such things existed... how wonderful! Thank you for showing us.
