Communication Skills

Many may remember a few weeks ago me talking here
about Spencer's obsession with printing train
pictures off of the interenet and taping them into
long trails that lay all over the house.
It is a true obsession and he will print 500 pictures in
one setting! Because of that, I remove (and hide!)
the ink cartridge from my printer and he gets it as
a special treat about once a week.
He usually just asks by saying "I want ink please"
(which actually sounds more like "I wah E-U peas")
Today, he brought me this! He can write when he
has to, but not usually at his own initiation.
My writing of "print" and "ink" are at the top
as I showed him the correct spelling.
"I want print please!"
Yea, Spence!

  1. Wow thats excellent!!! I hope he got his reward!

  2. Progress! You must be proud....Isn't it interesting, Spencer seems to have the same wish we all do--we want ink, please, we have something to say/print/express.

  3. Betsy, I have been thinking (praying)about your family since your post about the two roads. I simply don't know how you do it. You get my Exception Mom Award!

    Yea Spence for communicating!

  4. Yay!! That is wonderful!!! Really sweet picture of his writing. :)

  5. Casdok ~ yes, of course...how could I not let him print after that! ;)

  6. Steviewren ~ thank you so much! People's encouraging words do help!
    ...and their prayers!

  7. Willow ~ it is sweet, isn't it? He's so accomplished at typing...as fast as me (and all index finger!)...that it is cute to see him write for a change!

  8. Awwww....So touching that he included a "please" !

  9. Lavinia ~ all the boys have been good about saying "please" when they request things. I think getting the requested item gives some incentive. :) Harry always says "you" for thank you. Alex nods (he doesn't say any words, but nods instead...actually really cute!) And Spencer will say thank you if you remind him. Sounds more like "woo". :)

  10. Your Spencer sounds like a sweet little guy. Bless his heart for liking trains!!! I have a Spencer, too!! But my Spence is a lot older and can buy his own ink. :)

    Have a lovely weekend!!

  11. Sweet Cottage ~ Yes, it would be great to have him buy his own ink! LOL! Now you know why I limit the printing and hide the cartridge!

  12. Aahhh.... you both have done so well.... and for him to ask politely with a "please" ... what a gentleman!
    How encouraging!

  13. Oh wow!!!! Hooray, a job well, well done Spencer!

Betsy, I have been praying for you and your family. This post brought tears to my eyes. So very touching to actually "see" his handwritten note. Thank you for sharing!

  14. Good for Spence! Made my heart happy to read this post Betsy :)

  15. Thanks all ~ I'll have to post more of this type of thing so you can get a glimpse of my boys! :)

  16. Wow that is wonderful! What a great accomplishment for him!

  17. That is a really cool note! I love it! I am praying for you and your research and plans.

  18. said it before...say it again...is it possible to love a family that you have never met...what a wonderful God we serve!

    in my thoughts!
