Thank you for the food we eat.
Thank you for the birds that sing.
Thank you, God, for everything.
Amen
I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake,
I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to take.
Amen.

Anybody else say these prayers as a child?
Wow, that brings back memories. I probably said those prayers a thousand times. Love that baby painting...and it compliments the colors in the photo so well!
ReplyDeleteI used to say the first one, and I had completely forgotten about it until I read your post! Thank you Betsy... :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...nice vivid colours. Two classic, unforgettable prayers.
ReplyDeleteWillow ~ Didn't we have these two prayers on wall plates in our bedroom? Seems like I remember that.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! And we used to sing Johnny Appleseed too.
ReplyDeleteI said them both Betsy :)and...I taught them to my children..the baby picture is just precious...
ReplyDeleteVery sweet post...
Yes, I did say that bedtime prayer. I said a different one at mealtime though. It went like this:
ReplyDeleteGod is great,
God is good.
Let us thank Him for our food.
By His hands we are fed,
Give us, Lord, this daily bread.
I had to chuckle when I remembered teaching these to our oldest, Taylor. We had to stop saying the bedtime one. He got all hung up on the thought that he could die while he slept. It wasn't worth the anxiety. That's when we started the "God bless Mommy, and Daddy....and the hundreds people, toys and things he could think of....." ha-ha
ReplyDeleteLora ~ We said the God is Great one, too! Thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteWe have said the second one with both of our children from birth. They are now saying their own little prayers in their own words. So sweet! That picture is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for stopping by my blog. I have gotten my hair cut and had a picture taken on our marriage retreat last weekend. I'll try to get it posted on my blog asap. As you can tell life has gotten the best of my time lately. :)
