Cherry Tree

I've used this picture as my screensaver
for the last few springs. Isn't it beautiful?
I wish this were the view out my kitchen window.

  1. Years ago a friend of mine told me that the Japanese consider it a blessing to sit under flowering spring trees and have the blossoms fall in their food. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not. But that spring she had a dinner in her garden with three women friends. I was one. And we sat by candlelight at an old wooden table under her cherry tree, and indeed, those heavy pink blossoms fell into our food and we ate them up. It was one of those golden moments.

  4. That IS gorgeous! I just watched "Memoirs of a Geisha" Monday night...my favorite scene is when Sayuri is standing under the cherry tree and the blossoms are blowing down on her. So beautiful.
