I worked on two of my projects today. Both were for my newly painted laundry room. These are easy and inexpensive to make and I love the way they look!
For the memo board...
-
I bought a poster frame.
-
Remove the Plexiglas and cardboard back and lay a piece of batting, the same size on the top of both. Cover with fabric, which has been cut a couple of inches larger, wrap around the edges and attach on the back with a staple gun.
-
Lay back into frame.
-
Arrange ribbon pieces in a decorative pattern. I held mine in place with straight pins until I got them symmetrical. Tuck into frame and secure entire board into frame. Attach upholstery tracks where the ribbons cross, letting them puncture into the cardboard securely.
-
Finished!
for the cork board...
-
I used an identical poster frame. No need to take apart.
-
Fit top with thin cork tiles directly on Plexiglas. Trim pieces if necessary.
-
They should fit inside the frame snugly like puzzle pieces.
-
Secure with hot glue on all corners of the tiles.
-
Finished!

It's all in the detail. You've done a great job. This is going to be the smartest Laundry Room in the universe.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Betsy! I need a cork board in my kitchen--I think I could do that!
ReplyDeleteLook amazing Besty I need one to (lol)
ReplyDeleteHow clever and USEFUL! Right now my "small corkboard" is completely covered with grandchildren's photos. I need to get a bigger on, and really organize it. Thanks for the inspsiration.
ReplyDeleteIn our small house, my laundry room has to serve many purposes: Laundry of course, pantry, Art Studio, and there are no free walls...Can't wait to see your "finished" laundry room.
Thanks, all. Both were really easy to do. My laundry room is actually part of a hallway! I had this nice big wall to work with. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out.
ReplyDeleteLook at you going all creative once more
ReplyDeleteCreating some new wall decor
Making you laundry area feel all nice and snug
For when you give the laundery pile a tug
A laundry feat
That looks all nice and neat
Looks like you had a really fun day.
ReplyDeleteThose will be so fun, they look great! ;D
ReplyDeletePat ~
ReplyDeleteSince I spend half my life in there
I thought I should have some beauty to share!
The laundry mountain
in always shoutin'.
Yes, I give it a tug
and it multiples a lug.
Glad the cats don't wear clothes
the mountain would be as high as Goodness knows.
lol...
Silver ~ busy day...lots of multitasking! I also put three coats of paint on a door!
ReplyDeleteIt really looks great. You tend to appreciate more also because the custom job was your work.
ReplyDeleteLD ~ that is true. You do appreciate it more if you made it yourself!
ReplyDeletePat ~ did you notice your bush #3 on my memo board spree?
ReplyDeleteAnd how about you, Silver
See a Tern there?
I didn't, because I didn't blow up the photos, sorry. My eyes aren't good enough to spot things like that. Other than that, all I can say is... Awww.
ReplyDeleteSilver ~ you must have had your glasses off?
ReplyDeleteEven with my glasses, my eyes weren't good enough. :(
ReplyDeleteGettin' old, doll...
very nice betsy these look very fancy...and a nice simple project...well done...
ReplyDeletehaha if you were one of those that dressed cats up all nice and neat
ReplyDeleteI think the cats toes would curl on his feet
Those people tend to be a bit scary
Cats are meant to be hairy..haha
Yeah I zoomed in and saw that
Left another comment at your mat
Must have got eaten by blogger and error 503
But gotta love bush number three
I admit I first saw the guy head coming out of the cup
As small I made a slight hiccup
And thought it was a the loo
His head was coming out of to view...LOL
Pat ~ Blogger is doubling my comments today
ReplyDeleteand eating yours as you type away.
haha...well, that head in the toilet would be you
after you'd eaten a variety of food.
No, it's only a really big coffee cup.
Which you'll be spared with any luck.
haha yeah that would be the size of it
ReplyDeleteA variety really does make my stomach have a fit
15+ years of eating the same stuff
Makes new things go down rough..haha
We could give you apple juice in that cup.
ReplyDeleteThen you'd really lap it up!
ha.
They look wonderful...great job!
ReplyDeletethanks, dear...I really think I'm going to enjoy them! I need to put some of my art on them, too!
ReplyDeleteYour bulletin boards are great! My daughter-in-law made some a couple of years ago, and I thought how cute and clever they were. Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteThey are working pieces of art.
ReplyDeleteHummm...thinking of painting and what color to use. Gray...hummm...
It is fun. You crafty person you.
ReplyDeleteThose would make for a really cool gift and could be made in many different sizes. I have one that is half cork and half memo. Also one that is half chalkboard and half cork.
ReplyDeleteI have also seen where you can make a memo board out of really strong cardboard and just not having a frame. The material is wrapped around the edges. I guess that is a good way to recycle.
I am wondering if the boys will take over once they realize they can put up pictures of trains on there. You are so artistic and thank you so much for sharing this with us.
God bless.
Fabulous! Love the memo board!
ReplyDeleteHugs
SueAnn

This board is usually a gift shop in many places on the Internet or stored on the bulletin board. It is used to display several types of memos, greeting cards, postcards, notes, photos, notes and many other accessories.
