Remember Harry's wild curls? Well it seems he was not liking them!
Harry doesn't like it when his hair gets long and bushy and he has asked to
have it trimmed before. Well, last week while I worked at an auction,
Taylor watched his brothers. He walked into the kitchen to see
Harry cutting his own hair! He said that he was trying to use the
kitchen scissors and clumps of hair were everywhere! He told him
'no!' and took the scissors away.
But Harry was persistent, following Taylor around the house and giving him the scissors, as if to ask Taylor to finish the job for him! Well, this is what Harry looked like. His forehead was bare and he had chunks missing from all over his head. He had literally laid the scissors against his scalp before taking a cut. ha.
He seemed very happy and pleased with himself! lol...
And gave his brothers a cut, too.
See, he wants to show you one of his bald spots! Oh, and I really should mention that this was the SAME DAY that Alex locked me out of the house in my nightgown. Yep, it was a really eventful day, that and working an auction. I couldn't sleep that night. I think I couldn't unwind! lol...
He's so cute! Just look at that smile! He has beautiful hair - I would love those curls. Oh well, it was one way to get a summer cut, right?
ReplyDeleteI think he did a great job...sort of a buzz cut but a little longer on top.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter once cut her own bangs(fringe in England), it was photo taking day at school, and I laugh everytime I look at that photo.
I was wondering who you left in charge, when you were working, now I know !
Lol....
~Jo
Mari ~ I love the curls, too! And just as they get to looking really nice, he asks for a haircut! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteJo ~ fringe? I didn't know they called bangs that! Cute. Yes, Taylor or The Mister, if available to work from home. They can't be left alone, that is for sure! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWell it seems he took the saying
ReplyDeleteAt least part of it in playing
If you want something done right do it yourself, to heart
Of course the only part the would apply is the start
Oh the truly was an adventureous day
Locks, Scissors and Port a Potties oh my, must really cause dismay..LOL
I love to hear about your boys. Joshua cut his one time with clippers and when we got home he was outside crying because he really messed up. I think he was around 12 then.
ReplyDelete-take care
cindy
Pat ~ yes, the day was adventurous from the very beginning
ReplyDeletean award I think it should be winning!
All I can say is, thanks for sharing and thanks for being an example of a mom who picks her battles. :)
ReplyDeleteNice try Harry.
ReplyDeleteYou need to be a reality TV show!
ReplyDelete(My sister shaved off half her eyebrows when she was around ten - took years to grow back)
Is that your adorable alter-ego with hair blowing in the wind in the little red bug?
Christine ~ nice try...to make his mother loose her mind? lol...
ReplyDeleteHelen ~ why yes, that is my alter-ego. Now if only I had good hair days every day like that! haha.
ReplyDeleteChristine! What a lovely new profile picture! :)
ReplyDeleteHe is so happy with his hair cut!
ReplyDeleteYou must have spent the latter part of the day wondering if Spencer was going to pull some sort of stunt! :)
ReplyDeleteomg...that was some kind of day for you eh? whew...just gave the boys cuts today...big smiles at how proud he is of his handy work...
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ yep, a really crazy day! I'm ready for an uneventful week! :) Nice you cut your boys' hair, too! But since I do it, I should have known you did. lol...
ReplyDeleteI'm just smiling here. (-:
ReplyDeleteWhat dolls...love those curls...Do all the boys have curly hair.
ReplyDeleteThat proud smile and pointing to the "bald" stop....priceless.
I can't believe all those curls are gone...
ReplyDeletethey are the sweetest looking boys curls or not, how mischevious that one!
I know I shouldn't laugh but it really is funny.
ReplyDeleteDear Betsy, this is hilarious.;) I mean we can laugh about it now here, but i can imagine that it is less funny when it occurs - particularly to be locked out in a nightgown.;) Still your boys look great with their new summer look.;)

ReplyDeleteOh Betsy!!! What a nutty day! Harry looks SO HAPPY about his short summer cut! I woulda thought it was Spence that would lock you out!!!!! In your nightgown too? OY!
ReplyDeleteYou are cracking me up! I don't know if it was as funny for you though as it is for us.
ReplyDeleteI hope they all got it out of their systems that day and you had a few easier ones to follow...is that possible? :)
Kayren ~ well, yes I cracked up, too. I mean...how can you not? This summer is going down as the craziest yet...and we're only three weeks into it! lol. Glad to bring a smile to your face, dear. I've been thinking about you!
ReplyDeletei love a good summer buzz cut ...so easy to care for !! the curls will return soon enough~
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'd feel so sad to see those beautiful curls get cut away but I'm sure a close summer cut will be so much cooler. I am almost ready to do the same to my mop of hair...lol!
ReplyDeletePS I hope you bury a key somewhere outside so there will be no more lock outs!
Oh my goodness... all of those beautiful curls :(
ReplyDeleteBut I bet he feels a lot cooler and It'll grow back quick :) It's been quite a summer for you so far.

ReplyDeletelol When we were growing up every one wanted long hair and beards and my two sons grew up wanting GI Joe cuts.Extremely short and if it grew just a little it bothered them.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess your son is in the swing of things with todays' modern world
:)
His haircut looks great : ) It will be nice and cool in the hot summer weather.
ReplyDeleteOh my!! I love the proud look on his face showing his bald spot!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's admirable that he was willing to take matters into his own hands. And, his new haircut looks very cool and summery.
ReplyDeleteI love Harry's new style! and I get the biggest kick out of seeing that stack of train pics in the background in all the photos of the boys! ha!
ReplyDeleteYour life is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI hope the nightgown was one of the fully covering ones. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI giggled in an unseemly manner while reading this post and the girls at the next computers looked over at me suspiciously. Go Harry!
